ASK brings Purple Basil Pesto from the countryside of Verona to the Tables of the UK

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Italian food has long been a favourite in the UK whether you’re staying in or going out. The perfect cuisine for every occasion some might say, everyone has their own much-loved favourite. This autumn ASK Italian is adding a new flavour to that list of favourites. For the first time they are giving diners in the UK the chance to sample the punchy flavour of purple basil. They have created two new additions to their menu adorned with this autumnal colour; Garlic Bread Speciale with Purple Basil Pesto and Purple Basil Pesto Genovese fresh pasta both infused with purple basil pesto.

ASK Italian have teamed up with a small family-run farm in the Veronese countryside to produce three tonnes of purple basil that will go into the dishes that form the centrepiece of the new autumn menu. The menu is now available in all ASK Italian restaurants along with plenty of other tastes of the season.

Customers who order one of the Purple Basil Pesto dishes to eat-in will receive a complimentary packet of Grow-Your-Own Purple Basil Seeds to take home. This way you can grow a purple basil plant from your windowsill or add a purple patch to your indoor herb garden.

Head of Food at ASK Italian, Jeena Rodrigues, says: “We’re always looking for ways to elevate our most loved dishes, and Purple Basil Pesto is the perfect combination of classic Italian flavours. Working with the farmers in Verona, we’re able to give the beautiful herb the close care and attention that it requires for high quality production.”

Eat the Italian way we say.
