BB’s & CC’s & DD’s Oh My!

One of the top beauty trends to hit our stores this year has to be the alphabet tinted moisturiser and foundation all in one cream. Many of you may refer to them as the BB, CC and now the new addition to the family, the DD cream. The initial purposes of these creams were to be used on patients’ to protect their skin after surgery. Due to the mineral base of these products the creams are used to cover blemishes at the same time treating spots, acne and scaring. You can find these creams everywhere, well known brands such as Maybelline, Bobbi Brown and Clinique have widely endorsed it to be one of their top products. The miracle working cream that has been known to cure scars, acne & inflammation to the skin has been dubbed down to be a normal tinted moisturising treatment cream. I was interested to know exactly what each cream does and why I couldn’t just settle for a standard tinted moisturiser. Through my research I have to admit, I was very impressed!

What is the difference between them?

The BB cream can be used as a primer under your favourite foundation to create a smooth canvas or can be used alone. It hydrates the skin and controls oil moisture so you are left with a balance shine. To top it off, it also protects your skin from UV rays and acts as a sunscreen.

The CC cream is the 2nd addition to these skin protecting creams. The CC cream has the exact same features as the BB cream but instead of trying to cover up your blemishes this formula will help to even out your skin. The CC cream is also known as the Colour Correcting Cream. The CC cream is a lot lighter on the skin and has a softer feel to it than the BB cream.

The newest addition would be the DD cream which is also known as the Dynamic Do-all cream.  The DD cream is a combination of the formulas that are within both the BB cream and the CC cream in one but has much more coverage than the two.

So let’s face it, these creams are taking over. It’s pretty exciting stuff! So now if you want a natural look you don’t have to spend tons of money. You don’t have to wear a lot of makeup and as a bonus; these creams are performing a treatment on your skin at the same time! We are truly spoilt for choice. So when looking to go away this year & laying on the beach sipping on cocktails, a bottle or tube of either BB, CC or DD cream would need to be added to your holiday shopping list!
