Big Apple Brixton – Thanksgiving

The award winning team behind Brixton Beach Boulevard and South Pole Saloon (Design My Night’s ‘Best Pop-Up London 2015) have opened their new winter pop up – Big Apple Brixton. Tickets are available now via Design My Night. The rooftop venue gives visitors the experience of travelling back to New York City circa 1977 –

There is a rattle and hiss as a Subway train hurtles by, the painted metal a riot of colour – a speeding canvas for guerilla artists against the smoking cityscape. This is The Big Apple 1977 and the city is on fire. In the Bronx, a new kind of hybrid music – a DIY collage of looped Funk and Disco breaks that will one day dominate the sonic landscape – is being born on street corners and in makeshift dance halls. They call it Hip Hop.In Central Manhattan the lights of Broadway shine down on the throngs clamouring outside Studio 54, as inside Warhol gets down with Grace Jones, and the stars swing from the mirror balls and dance, ankle deep, in glitter. There’s electricity in the air tonight and the streets themselves feel alive – because this the city that never sleeps, where the party never stops and the night is always young.

‘Big Apple Brixton’ gives guests a first class ticket to New York City in 1977 through immersive entertainment including cabaret and hip hop performances, immersive production, American style street food vendors, disco yoga and hip hop classes. The venue will include three themed indoor bars and one themed nightclub – all inspired from iconic venues around Manhattan and Harlem / The Bronx. Big Apple Brixton also has four private rooms available including a Record Store, Barber Shop, Peep Show, and Latino Chapel.

There’s plenty to do, eat and drink at Big Apple Brixton and this Thanksgiving it is no different. Food venders have created. To celebrate Thanksgiving this Thursday 24th November, Big Apple Brixton will be offering guests a 70’s New York City styled Thanksgiving with a themed menu and free entry all night.

Each of the four food vendors will be preparing a Thanksgiving-style dish for the holiday along with £5 spicy cranberry cocktails
