Bob Hope Theatre presents The Children’s Hour

web childrens hour

This highly successful play tells the story of two women who run their own private school in America in the 1930s, who fall prey to the malicious scheming of one of their pupils who implies that they are involved in an inappropriate relationship. The allegation provokes a scandal which derails not only their relationship, but also the future marriage that one of the women is planning with a local doctor. Despite the lack of truth in the allegations, irreparable damage is done to all concerned. The play is based on an actual case and was made into a film in 1961 starring Shirley MacLaine, Audrey Hepburn and James Garner. For some reason the film was released in the UK as “The Loudest Whisper”.
