Bourne and Hollingsworth Burns Night
This year, Bourne & Hollingsworth will once again be hosting the ultimate Burns Night celebration on Thursday 25th January. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings in Clerkenwell, guests can celebrate the life of Robert Burns with a sophisticated night of whisky cocktails, ceilidh dancing and Burns Night banqueting.
Laddies and Lassies are invited to don their finest tartan attire and enter the cocktail bar for a welcome whisky cocktail reception complete with the traditional Burns night piper, before moving in to The Greenhouse and Garden Room to take their seats for a decadent and traditional five course Burns Night Supper of Cullen Skink, Gin cured Salmon, Haggis Neeps N Tatties and Cranachan, all polished off with delicious Bruichladdich Whisky cocktails and deep fried Mars Bars.
The B&H Master of Ceremonies will ensure the night sticks to a traditional running order.
The Selkirk Grace will be recited, the haggis piped in, addressed and toasted, the immortal memory enacted, live music played, toast’s to the lassies and a vote of thanks as the dinner draws to a close with everyone joining hands for a rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
Those of a more extrovert disposition can participate in The Burns Factor and try their hand at reciting some of the poet’s trickier verses. The festivities then continue as guests have an opportunity to get fair puckled dancing the Eightsome Reel, Strip the Willow and other traditional ceilidh favourites.
Highlights from this year’s cocktail menu include:
- Smoked Heather Dram £13 Scottish Heather (handpicked by Jamie’s mother) flamed with Laphroaig Quarter Cask, orange cognac liqueur and sweet vermouth, added to apple juice. Served hot.
- Trainspotting Tub £10 Port Charlotte heavily peated single malt Scotch whisky, shaken with fresh espresso and homemade aamaretto
- Lads & Lassies £10 Bruichladdich Classic Laddie single malt Scotch whisky, shaken with bergamot and yuzu cordial, topped with bubbles.
