CREATIVE LONDON: Zoe Vaughan Davies

11.04.16_Zoe_LowResWe got chatting to the very stylish Zoe Vaughan Davies, PR & Marketing consultant, working mainly for fashion & retail brands and developers. Having previously worked with brands such as Vivienne Westwood, Y-3, Agent Provocateur and Rocco Forte Hotels her current clients include: The British Fashion Council and their consumer event London Fashion Weekend, Market Tech, (owners of Camden Market, Interchange co-working spaces and the new Hawley Wharf development) and has recently worked with Jade Jagger promoting her jewellery line in Paris…

1. TELL US WHAT A TYPICAL DAY IN THE OFFICE IS LIKE?

It really depends on which office I am in, what events we have on or who I am meeting that day.  I am currently working from the Market Tech offices for the majority of my week as we are in the process of a huge re-juvination campaign for Camden Market which includes working on a series of high profile events, introducing potential new tenants and brands to the client and also implementing the communication plans across the board.  Then once London Fashion Weekend pre event activity kicks back in around June for the September shows I will have my mind completely back in the world of fashion and be swapping my kicks for heels…

2. WHAT DO YOU ENJOY THE MOST WHEN WORKING WITH YOUR CLIENTS?

Having different clients is fantastic because of the diversity of work, I don’t think I could work on one project all the time because I don’t find it inspiring enough as I love to be constantly meeting and working with different people.   I like the fact that on some occasions I can cross-promote clients and everyone gets the benefit of the different networks I have, for example it looks like we will be doing an exciting British Fashion Council event in Camden this year which probably wouldn’t have come about if I didn’t work for both parties.

3. BEST PIECE OF ADVICE YOU HAVE BEEN GIVEN?

My first boss Andy Spinoza told me never to assume anything…it’s great advice, especially around events because I guarantee that if you assume something has been done…it hasn’t…

4. FAVOURITE HANG OUTS IN LONDON?

I’ve been hanging out in Camden a lot due to work and I really like Q Grill on Chalk Farm Road and also the obvious ones in town like Chiltern Firehouse, Dean Street Townhouse and the Groucho Club (which is always an amazingly random night) Also, the Firmdale group of hotels have the most beautiful and comfortable bars to hang out in.

5. HOW DID YOU GET IN TO PR AND EVENTS?

I was approached at a party in Manchester, it was the launch of an incredible bar & restaurant called REFORM and the PR guy came up to me and offered me a job in his agency working on the celebrity events division (I was hanging out with some Queer as folk and Corrie stars so he probably thought I knew some useful people)  that was it…I started working at Spin Media and after a few years I left to set up on my own and the rest as they say is history…

6.  ARE THERE ANY BRANDS OR CLIENTS YOU WOULD LIKE TO WORK WITH?

I would love to work with Vivienne Westwood again in some capacity as she is still one of my favourite designers and I think the collections are beautiful…some of the events and campaigns I did with Vivienne’s team were the most fun of everything I’ve ever worked on.  You never know what’s going to happen!
