Ekachai: Review

Ekachai

Fridays are now going to be called Ekachai day!!!

Last Friday I had the pleasure of visiting Ekachai at the Arcade on Liverpool Street. The restaurant reopened its doors a little over a week ago, as it was getting spruced up and had a change of staff.

I am a fan of Pan-Asian food and I love me anything Thai, so when I was offered a girly date there I was sold from the word go. Sad thing was that I got stood up, but as I had already arrived I thought I might as well eat anyway (I was starvin’).

The décor can be summed up as gorgeous, but the food was so good it has to take pride of place.

For starters I had Satay Chicken and Vietnamese Summer Rolls. I love me a summer roll!! The satay was good, but for me just needed a little more salt. This is personal preference as I love really well seasoned chicken. The peanut sauce was divine and had the gorgeous nut chunks that I expect to find in it, I hate when it’s a fine paste (which make me wonder if it was shop bought). The summer rolls were divine, if you haven’t had summer rolls, they are a cold alternative to spring rolls made from salad, with noodles stuffed in a fine pastry.

For my main I went for the Nasi Goreng, mainly because it was one of their recommended dishes and when I am drinking red wine I don’t want to think about what to eat. The Nasi Goreng was so tasty, there was not one fault with it, it was so moreish I literally stopped eating it so I could take it home and sit down in a quiet place to enjoy it. I also ordered some Kangkun Goreng, which is wok fried water spinach vegetables with garlic, chilli and lemon juice. The chilli and the garlic infused with the vegetables made me do a little dance, it was one of those side dishes that you know you have to share, but as I was stood up I didn’t have too. RESULT!!

Before we comment on how much I can eat, please remember I was sad as I was alone, had been drinking red wine and I am a bit greedy and love food. Hahahaha

The final dish I tried was Beef Pho soup, if you have read any of my reviews before you know how much I love me some Pho. So when I saw it on the menu I sucked it up and took one for the team. The Pho was delicious, it was perfectly seasoned and unlike most Pho’s I have tried this one was slightly sweet which made it even tastier. The beef melted in my mouth and the noodles and bean sprouts were a perfect combination of crunchy and soft…. Yes I am day dreaming as I type this.

The nitty gritty is this! If you are in Liverpool Street Mon-Friday just go! Say Abi sent you, they may not know my name, so maybe say a greedy girl who ate loads of food, drank red wine and sat alone sent you.

You will not regret it, and added bonus the place is affordable!
