Hache Burger our Chinese New Year

hache-1-of-1

Arriving at Haché and finding that they neither knew we were coming nor did we have a reservation was not the best start. I must say however that the staff immediately found us a table regardless and they were extremely professional.

Certainly to start with the service was excellent and we were very quickly brought our drinks. Being at a burger joint, even a nice one like Haché, for Chinese New Year was rather odd, but also intriguing. I was very curious to find out how they were going to present their special hoi sin duck ‘burger’.

As it turned out it was a beautiful well cooked selection of pieces of duck served in a brioche bun with cucumber and hoi sin sauce to add as desired. Although we were not asked how we liked our duck cooked it was nonetheless beautifully done and then I was happy overlook that.

The restaurant itself is well situated, not far from Old Street station or Shoreditch High Street station and is well decorated in a style that doesn’t scream chain restaurant. A welcome touch and a great contrast to the Be At One we had been to before.

The house special cocktail and aloe mojito was an unusual twist on the conventional mojito, but one worth trying if you find mojitos too heavy on the mint.

Overall a very pleasant experience with only a couple of things to the contrary. Recommended whether you are there for Chinese New Year or just for a good burger in a nice setting.
