Introducing the perfect pale ale at Wagamama

Beer Lifestyle Portrait

What better way to enjoy your Wagamama’s favourites than with the perfect pale ale? It seems Steve Mangleshot, Wagamama’s Executive Chef, and Ciaran Giblin, Head Brewer at the Meantime Brewing Company, would agree!

Steve and Ciaran have teamed up to create Kikku and Kansho, a pair of fresh new craft pale ales to match the menu, further extending Wagamama’s impressive range of Asian inspired beer.

Kikku, meaning ‘kick’ in Japanese, is a shichimi infused pale ale. Shichimi is the Japanese seven spice mix, offering a subtle kick and heat to each serve. The pale ale can be perfectly paired with wagamama’s richer dishes such as the Short Rib Ramen or Grilled Duck Donburi. Kansho, meaning ‘zesty’, has been brewed using fresh lime and ginger, offering a refreshing twist. wagamama recommends pairing the beverage with lighter, citrus infused dishes such as Raisukaree or a side of Lollipop Prawn Kushiyaki, to complement the vibrant flavours.

Steve Mangleshot said “We’re so excited about our partnership with Meantime and the new ales. Our two brands share the same values and passions and we believe those are evident in the finished products. Our aim was to push the boundaries in finding unique but accessible flavours. I think we’ve really hit the mark with Kikku and Kansho, as they complement wagamama dishes perfectly and we’re confident our customers will love our new beers as much as we do.”
