Art-world and festival-land firebrand Marbles & Ware, a London-based collective of artists and creatives, are descending on The Vaults, Waterloo, to host a series of interactive events, including a themed art exhibition and a theatrical take on the traditional art auction., culminating in a late-night party.
Marbles & Ware Art Exhibition: 11am-7pm, 16 September – 27 September – FREE

The Vaults Gallery will play host to the free-entry ‘Southern Wilds’ exhibition, which takes cues from New Orleans and foodie purveyors Slap Ya Papa’s Louisiana-influenced soul food menu. Comprising of up-and-coming London-based artists curated by Marbles & Ware, The Vaults will be filled with southern-inspired works of art and characters from the swamp to the manor, all of which will be available to buy at the Bidders Banquet auction the following week.

Marbles & Ware ‘Bizarre Bazaar’: 10:30am-5pm, 19 & 26 September – FREE

Marbles & Ware’s Bizarre Bazaar will become an extension of the bustling Saturday market atmosphere of Waterloo’s Lower Marsh, with artisan makers and crafters selling their creations and New Orleans Southern Belle market callers hollering the day’s best bargains to be had. The public are invited in to explore the goods on sale, enjoy the theatrically immersive New Orleans bazaar setting created by the Marbles & Ware collective, and indulge in soul food snacks from the Slap Ya Papa café space.

Come evening-time, the market is cleared to make way for the Marbles & Ware X Slap Ya Papa Bidders’ Banquet; as live music simmers under the buzzing hubbub of guests enjoying a 5-course feast, expect a dizzy bidding frenzy throughout the meal as Marbles & Wares’ eccentric auctioneers tout latest works from the Next-Big-Things featured in their Southern Wilds exhibition. Come ready to raise a paddle, and a glass! The Bidders Banquet will then spill over with a New Orleans knees-up into the night with live bands and DJs performing shake-a-tail-feather sets beaming from the Bayou to Botswana!

Debauchery is thoroughly encouraged…So grab ya horn, get your dancing shoes on and come soak up some good ol’ fashioned Southern hospitality!
