Meet me at the Kaleidoscope whisky bar

 Kaleidoscope Bar London[1][2]

More than 30 years after the founders of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society bought their first cask, they are launching their second London location, Kaleidoscope, bringing together both members and non-members. Following the success of Edinburgh’s Kaleidoscope bar, the society are looking to replicate it with their new home in a refurbished warehouse in the heart of the city, just minutes away from Liverpool Street in Devonshire Square.

The society’s mission is to provide their members with an adventurous and fun journey of discovery of the world’s widest collection of single cask whiskies. Each of their whiskies is bottled straight from a single cask giving drinkers a real sense of the variety and the character of the drink. Each month around twenty new casks are released to members and the society’s bars, once they’ve been rigorously scrutinised by the society’s tasting panel, so you can always be sure they’ll be something new to try. With only around 200 bottles of each available each one should be treasured as something truly unique.

Kaleidoscope allows non-members to swing by the society’s world of whisky that is largely the preserve of their members, and with over 200 different whiskies available every night there’s certainly something to suit every taste. The menu also boasts a range of other spirits, beers and wines, not to mention a cocktail list with fresh takes on classics alongside more adventurous options, so those who aren’t just there for the whisky are equally well catered for. And what better way to enjoy such a selection with one of the delicious snacks from Kaleidoscope’s neighbours at Mac & Wild – the pairing will leave you drinking and eating a wonderful taste of Scotland.

The luxurious bar has the feel of a comfortable members club, and the friendly and knowledgeable staff will help even a real novice find the perfect drink using the societies twelve distinctly flavoured profiles embodied by the boxes on the wall. In addition to its usual delights the Scotch Malt Whisky Society will be hosting events throughout the year where you can join their Ambassadors to learn more about the delights of Whisky.

I’d certainly recommend whisky lovers and novice’s alike to pop in – you’ll find Kaleidoscope has the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing drink; although as you get a taste for the whiskies you may well find yourself settling into one of their cosy booths for a night of conversation and laughter.

Kaleidoscope Whisky Bar opens on Friday 2nd June at 9A Devonshire Square, London EC2M 4YN
