Review: Little Nans Cocktail Bar

My warehouse chums and I have become a little apprehensive of shoreditch. We just don’t feel cool enough to hang out there anymore, however we have to admit there are some pretty cool things occurring down East.

One such awesome new pop up is Little Nans Bar. Everyone loves their grandparents and owner Tristan had a hell of a nan. She loved high tea and a damn good cocktail, which is seriously lucky for us. Downstairs in the Basement bar on Curtain Road lies a beautiful little den reminiscent of a 1980s living room.

image3As you descend into the den you are greeted with an artfully cluttered living room with around 30 sitting spots. The walls are lined with old memorabilia and the ceiling adorned with ivy and fairy lights. It feels very Kirsh but in oh such a good way.

You are seated at you table (pre booked!) where for £35 you receive unlimited cocktails and pic n’ mix. The cocktail menu encompasses all the best spirits with some quirky cocktails to wet your whistle. We opted for:

– The Lady Raquel Trotter:

Vodka, elderflower, lemon and prosecco

– I Love Boney M:

Vodka, fresh raspberry purée, Ticor 43, orange juice and prosecco

– Queen Kirsh Bitch:

Spiced rum, lime juice, Brokley mint, cranberry juice and prosecco.

image1They all came in large teapots and you choose your own tea cup from the hanging selection on the wall. That’s it, under the picture of Charles and Diana and next to the mirror with Pat Butcher stuck on it.

The cocktails were scrummy, potent and fruity. Everything you want in a cocktail. Lady Raquel had a vodka zing, and Boney M dangerously tasted like fruit juice. Let’s just say a warm fuzzing feeling began to spread through my body!

We sat and chatted for quite a while. Prepare to get snuggly with your neighbours as Nans living room makes for a social evening.

Little Nans is the best place to drink in a ‘home from home fashion’. The waiting staff and Tristan himself were amazingly hospitable and the cosy (Albeit a little warm) living room creates a chilled environment.
