Rock the Strand Review
With London being one of the more expensive cities to visit and live in, I’m always on the lookout for free events that I can recommend to my friends and/or Family. The latest one is Rock the Strand, which takes place the fourth Thursday of every month. Situated in the gorgeous Lounge Bar at the Strand Palace Hotel, guests will be wowed by a showcase of a diverse range of talented and upcoming artists from a variety of genres. It’s a ever changing set, so you won’t see the same performers twice.
With live music costing a fortune, it was an absolute pleasure for my friend and I to chill out on the lounge with a glass of wine and listen to two talented performers take the stage. Both Jack Francis and Ilona were discovered by Tony Moore, the original member of Iron Maiden. Since then he has discovered a wide range of acts including the Ed Sheeran, James Bay, Damien Rice… the list really goes on.
Jack Francis was the first singer to take the stage and his acoustic set was hauntingly beautiful. His voice reminded us of a mix of The Eagles and Eric Clapton. To listen for yourself, you can find Jack Francis’ music here:

After Jack’s 45 minute set it was time to kick it up a notch and Ilona came on stage, accompanied by backup guitarists Tony Moore and Katie. Having just returned from a tour in Nashville, Ilona was full of energy as she sang sensual love songs to the audience. Ilona was born to be a performer and we were disappointed we couldn’t stay to listen to the rest of her set. (We had to leave early to catch trains home). Definitely check out her music as I’m sure you’ll be hearing her play on popular radio stations around the world in the very near future:
As already mentioned, Rock the Strand takes place on the fourth Thursday of every month at the Strand Palace Hotel.
