New company launches open-air performances of Much Ado About Nothing in London’s garden squares

Shakespeare in the Squares will launch this summer with an open-air production of Much Ado About Nothing – Shakespeare’s celebration of love reluctantly admitted and joyously accepted by two consummately intelligent and witty protagonists, Beatrice and Benedick – performed in nine London garden squares.

Shakespeare in the Squares is a new, not-for-profit, touring theatre company that will stage a Shakespeare play each year in a limited number of London garden squares for one night only. The productions seek to blend professionalism and accessibility. They are carefully tailored to the individual garden squares and are intended as a community celebration, and have been warmly welcomed as such by participating squares.
Although currently limited to West and Central London, the company has ambitions to extend its reach in coming years, and hopes to provide an attractive way for people to access high-quality Shakespeare performances.

Directed by Joe Hufton, associate director of the multi-award winning company Belt Up Theatre, this new production of Much Ado About Nothing will be performed by talented professional actors and musicians.

All performances start promptly at 7pm. Doors from 5.30pm. Individual catering, bar and picnicking arrangements for each square will be announced closer to the date.
