Southbank Centre presents Billy And Jack’s Supper Club with Silent Pool Gin

St Pauls - Billy and Jack SSC17 - Billy and Jack hero 1 2016 finalists Billy and Jack and Silent Pool Gin are bringing a delicious series of summer feasts to the Southbank Centre’s stunning St Paul’s Pavilion this Summer. The arts centre’s Royal Festival Hall regularly hosts a food market and range of pop-ups along the riverside but this is the first supper club to take up residence in its stunning St Paul’s Pavilion with gorgeous views of The Thames. It was a great venue, with bright open spaces and gorgeous centre pieces. The colours and decor are absolutely stunning to be honest.

We attended the press preview of Billy and Jack’s Supper Club on the 26th of July 2017. There will be six Summer time themed weekends at Southbank Centre which began on the 30th of July 2017. As already mentioned, the Masterchef duo’s Billy and Jack’s Supper Club is in partnership with Silent Pool Gin. They have also teamed up with  Clement Worrall Event Caterers to host 40 sittings over the course of a month in St Paul’s Pavilion. Over the weekend of 10-12 August 2017, Billy and Jack also have special guest hosts Alison, Lorna and Giovanna ‘Three Girls Cook’, Masterchef Finalists of 2017, taking over duties. So if you’re a fan of Masterchef, this is the Supper Club to get you closer to the action.

Billy and Jack have created artistic and inventive sharing plates that show case the best British seasonal produce available and are familiar classic British summer dishes. During the final two weeks (14-28 August), guests will also have the opportunity to sample Jack’s famous coriander cheesecake, described by MasterChef judge John Torode as “breathtakingly brilliant” and widely considered the dish of the series. We were a bit disappointed we didn’t get to try this dish at the press preview. It sounds incredible and extremely interesting. Coriander is not a herb that I would associate with cheesecake, but if the experts say it’s great… It must be!

The sharing  style feast was a fun way to get to know other guests sitting at our table. We all thoroughly enjoyed the large plates of Sourdough Bread with chicken butter and marmite butter, Charred mackerel, Hampshire burrata and Cornish shrimp were all present on the menu. These all tasted absolutely delicious and you could tell they were top quality and fresh ingredients.

Our mains consisted of BBQ lamb, Herbed farro with pomegranate molasses and Grilled courgettes. I didn’t try the lamb, but other guests on the table declared it the best dish on the table. I was more partial to the courgettes and the Herbed farro. The dishes didn’t last long on our table so it’s safe to say they were a hit with everyone.

The dessert we did get to have was the Silent Pool Gin strawberry jelly with milk chocolate, strawberries and clotted cream ice cream. This dish was delicious, unfortunately the Jelly and ice-cream was a tad melted by the time it arrived at our table.  Definitely not as pretty picture as shown below. Though it tasted so good so we didn’t care.

Our meal was served with a range of delicious Silent Pool Gin Cocktails, including the Kombucha High Ball, the Nettle Collins and an Elder-flower Tonic. We may have indulged in one too many of these as we mingled with the master distillers from Silent Pool and ate our food.

Billy and Jack’s Supper Club in partnership with Silent Pool Gin will be running until the 28th of August 2017 so you better get in quick.
