St James Hotel and Club The Wind In The Willows Picnic Hamper

St. James’s Hotel and Club has partnered with this timeless musical to create a gourmet offering – perfect for pre-theatre and after-theatre picnics in neighbouring Green Park. Created from the best British produce and ingredients by Executive Head Chef William Drabble of Michelin-starred Seven Park Place, this picnic hamper is sure to impress.
We got to sample of some of the delicious delicacies from the St James Hotel and Club after an enjoyable evening sipping champagne and mingling with Evan James, the fabulous chief Rabbit in The Wind in The Willows. All of this was before we went to see The Wind In The Willows musical a second time. My hamper came with me to work the next day, so unfortunately there was no sitting in Green Park for me. It did make my day 100 times better though being able to share my picnic with my work colleagues.
The biodegradable hamper consists of two Chicken Liver Pates with bread croutes, a Chicken or poached salmon with poached egg, cherry tomatoes, sweet and sour red onions, French beans, artichokes, honey and mustard vinaigrette, two delicious strawberry and raspberry fresh fruit tarts, two fruit cakes soaked with brandy and two bottles of homemade, fresh squeezed lemonade. The freshness and flavour of the food were absolutely divine.
I would have assumed that given the amount of food provided in the hampers, the high quality of the food and the fact that it was prepared by a Michelin Star chef, the picnic hamper would come with a hefty price tag. This is definitely not the case. The picnic hamper is priced at only £40.00! My work colleagues and I were very impressed. You can also purchases the musical-inspired picnic hamper for two, and two tickets to The Wind in the Willows starting at £55 Monday –Thursday and £65 Friday and Saturday. Or go all out and book an overnight stay package, including the picnic hamper, continental breakfast, and two tickets to The Wind in the Willows starting at £365.
