The Waldorf Hilton London Review

Hilton Astoria-1
The Waldorf Hilton London, is located in Aldwych, which is within walking distance to theatre land, Covent Garden, Somerset House and the embankment. Not only is The Waldorf Hilton perfectly located, this historic hotel (which opened in 1908), is one of the most stunning hotels I’ve been in, in this gorgeous city we call London.

When I entered the lobby, I was welcomed by the friendly staff member at the door straight away and the staff at reception, the lobby is a beautiful sight with dazzling chandeliers, dark wooden furniture and a sense of opulence. I was booked in for an executive suite, giving me access to the executive lounge, which lets be honest is a treat in itself! Once checked in I was shown to the executive lounge and to my room. The Executive lounge offers free food and drinks throughout the day, with afternoon tea being served in the afternoon, to canapés in the evening. The prefect place to set up my laptop and do a bit of work before dinner. The executive lounges can at times be very busy, I found there to be a steady flow of people, but not overwhelming and there was always food on offer, which was a good sign.

My room was of a nice spacious size, with a blue modern coloured theme with black and white photos from the Golden age of Hollywood. The bathroom was lush and equipped with Templespa products, giving a nice luxury touch to my stay. The wardrobe was equipped with a nice bathrobe and slippers, so no surprise for what I had in mind after dinner, a nice relaxing bath, the one thing I like to take advantage of when staying in a hotel.

What I was really impressed with, was the Handy phone in my room, which is free for guests to use during their stay. It allows you to get free international calls, unlimited mobile internet (which is perfect to take outside the hotel and use for google maps) and exclusive discounts & offers. Guests abroad will love this feature that The Hilton has included, I mean the first thing I do when I check into a hotel abroad is message my loved ones, to say I have arrived safe and sound and with the Handy phone, no need to message them, you can call instead for free. If you are a gym goer or a pool lover, then bring your swimming costume and gym gear, there is a pool, sauna, steam room and a gym which is well equipped for your workout needs.

Waldorf Dining Room

For dinner we ate at the Homage restaurant, this grand restaurant is breathtaking, old style glitz and glamour, with high ceilings, corinthian columns and opulent chandeliers.

For the main I choose the five spiced crispy chicken thigh, bok choy, crispy onion and jasmine rice. the chicken was cooked well and marinated perfectly, giving a nice tangy flavour to the chicken. My guest went for the barley couscous, roasted squash, sweet potato and cauliflower ragout, a dish bursting with different flavours, it was a generous size and went down a treat with my guest.

Of course no fine dining is complete without desserts, we went for the English strawberry trifle with mascarpone cheese, which came in a glass jar, it was sweet and creamy, definitely a winning choice. The other desert was the apricot cheesecake, with raspberry compote. This was a lighter desert with the perfect amount of sweetness! We were well looked after by the waitress, it was great to see such high level of customer service being offered throughout the hotel.

After dinner at Homage, I headed on up to my room to find a lovely surprise waiting fro me, a bottle of processco and miniature cakes. Oh Hilton you are spoiling me (but please don’t stop). I had a luxurious bath and got ready for bed, after a very very good night sleep, due to the incredible soft yet firm comfortable mattress, I awoke and ordered breakfast in bed, after all when you’re staying in a hotel, why not treat yourself to a little room service. There was a menu in the room and I ordered eggs and avocado with sourdough bread, along with tea, orange juice and some croissants. The breakfast was scrumptious, but perhaps being downstairs in the breakfast room I could have continued to indulge (well you can’t have it all…).

I had a great stay at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel, in fact so far it’s the best hotel I’ve stayed in, in London, the service was A class, I felt looked after, from the minute I walked through the doors, the room was nice and spacious and I had a fantastic fine dining experience in The Homage.

Will I be back? you just try and stop me!
