TWID: The New Kid On The Block

Twid interior

Looking for a dining experience with some entertainment thrown in? then a restaurant with live music would be right up your alley! This is where I’ll introduce you to TWID (That’s What I Do) in Battersea. One of the new kids on the block, having only opened up in the last couple of months, offering live music 6 nights a week.

The restaurant decor is ornate and with the balconies in the restaurants, it certainly has a regal feel to it. TWID is the sister restaurant of Little Bay, and if you have been to little Bay you will see the resemblance in TWID, but the menu is completely different. We were seated in one of the balconies where we had a good eyeful of the opera singer Toby Sims, who was performing that evening on the stage. Now this is opera with a difference, Toby is also a performer, he will mainly perform on the big stage and then from time to time, he would pop up at different tables in the restaurant and perform there. We had gone on a quiet night, being Monday, so we had Toby come to our table a lot and sing, it felt very personal and we enjoyed it immensely, so much so, it stopped us from eating.

If you want to get up close and personal you can sit on the table in the middle, the same table that he performs on (yes its a huge square table, which accommodates plates, dishes and of course a performer).

The menu consists of small dishes, which are made for sharing, we had the scallops, which comes with kale and raspberries, it was marinated well and tasted tender. the Duck came with pickled cauliflowers, apples and raisins and this was certainly my favourite dish, it was bursting with flavour and I could have easily had this myself and not shared with my guest (it’s a must-order…) The raw vegan sushi terrine, only came as two, so was a little disappointing as we would have hoped for more, I mean who doesn’t like sushi? The quiona stuffed mushroom was another good choice, which include pine nuts, which gave a nice crunch.

There is a good range of sweet offerings in their dessert menu, we opted for the salted caramel cake, it comes in a generous size and we were pleased, it was a nice end to a good meal.

TWID, is certainly a place to go for an entertaining night and I recommend going when Opera singer Toby Sims is performing, prepare to have a fully charged phone, as you certainly will have that phone out filming throughout the night.
