UK Rumfest is coming to London

Rumfest 2017 logo

There’s a festival for tequila and a festival for gin, but now it’s time for festival dedicated to Rum. We featured Ian Burrell, the founder of Rum Fest last week on the site (onin.london/introducing-ian-burrell-global-ambassador-for-rum) and now it’s time to tell you more about the festival. This is the 10th anniversary of Rum Fest as Ian Burrell created it in 2007. Since then Rum Fest has gone from strength to strength.

With each ticket purchased guests can choose to taste from 400 of the world’s most premium and sort after rums from the likes of Puerto Rico, Jamaica, South Africa, Mauritius, the Philippines and even Japan. That’s right folks, Rum is not just from the Caribbean anymore! Rum has gone international.

We headed along to the press preview of Rum Fest and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We enjoyed drinking Pineapple Daiquiris by Plantation (Plantation Pineapple rum, fresh lime juice and sugar syrup) and dancing in their pineapple themed rave. Think sweet, fruity and extremly easy to drink traditional daiquiris.

Then we moved on to Derby Daiquiri by Don Q (Don Q Gold rum fresh lime juice, sugar and fresh orange juice) and Rio Spritzs by Yaguara Cachaça Yaguara Blue (withcAperol, tonic water, cucumber and lemon garnish). It was the Duppy Punch by The Duppy Share (Duppy Share rum, Fever Tree ginger beer, pineapple juice, fresh lime and angostura bitters) that won our drink of the night. I definitely had one too many of these! The Duppy Share will be Rum Fest so make sure you stop by their stool to try this delicious rum punch.

As part of the evening we also got to sample Rococo Chocolates. The brand will be hosting rum tastings to help guests find their perfect truffle to match with their favorite rum. They will also be serving delicious rum laced Hot Chocolates.

You’re going to have a blast at Rum Fest, not only experience rum’s from all around the world but being able to buy exclusive  rare rums such as the Foursquare Triptych, Single Blended Rum. They’ll be only 50 bottle so this blended and aged rum available. You better get in quick. We’ll see you at Rum Fest 2017 on the Sunday. If you spot us, stop and say hi.
