Valentine’s Schmalentine’s
With the month of February rapidly dawning on us, it can only mean one thing-Valentine’s Day is nearly here! Cue the red roses, boxes of chocolates, dinner reservations, sentimental cards and oh yeah, the ‘Valentine’s Day sucks!’ posts that will surely be popping up on our Facebook news-feeds!
Valentine’s Day, it can be argued, tends to favour those with a “special someone” and leaves those without a ‘boo’ feeling a little sad and bitter. I’ve always found the way in which those without a valentine are portrayed in movies quite hilarious. You know, the cynical group of women who think all men are stupid, the day is stupid, and well, just everything is stupid! ‘Who needs love anyway?’ they chant. There are so many things wrong with this picture! Not only are (some of) those without a valentine perfectly fine with not having a ‘schnookumpoop’ and ‘sugarplum’, they are also not crazy cynics and haters! Nonetheless, such ideas of angry, male-hating women never fails to make me laugh, and it got me thinking about what an anti-Valentine’s Day party would be like. Have a look at my ideas below!

Pampering session (manicure, pedicure, the works!)
Gossip about men
Hate on all your friends who are out on Valentine’s Day
Make up funny anti-Valentine’s Day poems for cards
Order piñatas of ex-boyfriend’s/husband’s face, the word ‘men’, hearts etc. and have a go at smashing them!
Discuss the joys of being single
