Ross Noble El Hablador Review

Ross Noble’s newest tour is called El Hablador. This is the comedian’s 16th touring show and follows on from his sold-out performances in Australia, UK and Europe with his 2016/17 show, Brain Dump. The show is as random as ever and follows the legend (not legend) of El Hablador himself. Onin London attended Ross Noble’s show at the London Palladium on Saturday in which he delivered another ludicrously funny performance.

As an Australian, my first experience of Ross Noblewas his appearances on TV shows such as Rove Live, Good News Week and Spicks and Specks throughout the early to late noughties. He immediately intrigued me as he takes over the live shows with complete random nonsense. I have been a fan ever since and always tried to keep track of his shows on DVD andappearances at Melbourne’s International Comedy Festival. I even listened in for his brief stint on the Australian radio station Triple J which was hysterically insane.

Last night at the London Palladium was my first experience at seeing Ross Noble live. His stage sets are always outrageous and El Hablador did not disappointwith the Mexican candy skull theme shining through. I always knew his sets were incredible but seeing the scale of this stage in person is something elsealtogether. Another nice touch was the classic hit song covers in Spanish during pre-show and the interlude.

Expect the unexpected with Ross Noble. His comedy is completely silly and spins off on many tangents throughout the show. I was crying with laughterthroughout the set at the overall oddity of the topics and downright bizarre things Ross thinks of in his day-to-day life. Everything from blasé hippos that can no longer be called blasé post-Brexit to Lance Armstrong shaving a monkey’s legs in order to cheat during the Tour De France. This absurdity means you never know what is coming next and I find this extremely entertaining.

For those who haven’t seen Ross Noble before, firstly where have you been and secondly be prepared for several stories within stories as certain topics seem to remind Ross of something else he would like to discuss. Arbitrary interactions with the audience also provide another avenue for Ross to deliberate. If you feel lost at all, just relax as Ross always comes back full circle to cover anything he missed, even if it is through a Q&A process in the encore.

Last night was the final El Halbador show in London, but Ross now continues his way around the UK concluding on the 14th December 2018 in Leeds. For a full list of tickets and tour date details please see https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/Ross-Noble-El-Hablador-tickets/artist/5246526

I strongly encourage you to leave your sanity at the door and just appreciate the comprehensive unpredictability that is Ross Noble. I will be keeping my eye out for the dates of his next tour.
