Singha Beer Cookalong with Andy Oliver Review

Last Tuesday I joined Singha Beer for an authentic Thai cookalong class with Andy Oliver, MasterChef finalist and Head Chef of London’s acclaimed restaurant, Som Saa. We were welcomed with a choice of two Singha Beer Cocktails. The one I choose was a delicious rum cocktail concoction. After these were finished we were taken into the heart of Cactus Kitchens and introduced to the man himself, Andy Oliver. He had prepared the first cooking demonstration of three and we then split up into pairs. At our cooking stations the ingredients for our first dish, Som Tam (Green Papaya Salad). It…

    Cafe Pacifico Review

Café Pacifico would have to be the most vibrant Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. As I looked around, it’s hard to picture this place once being a factory which stored bananas. This is a lively traditional Mexican Restaurant, UK’s first, owned by Francesco. He definitely picked the right place to start up his business, in the heart of Covent Garden. Straight away…

Oyster Season has arrived at Geronimo Pubs

The native oyster season has officially arrived! To celebrate in style, Geronimo Inns have teamed up with the Colchester Oyster Co. and renowned champagne house, Perrier-Jouët, to create a stylish oyster and champagne pairing at your local. Running from now until 2nd October, the menu sees Colchester Oyster Co. oysters served natural (over ice with red wine and shallot vinegar) or ‘Kilpatrick’ style (grilled with Worcester sauce and smoked bacon). Sourced from the seabed rather than being grown in nets at sea-level, feeding from the rich fertile waters in the Pyefleet Creek, these free-range oysters are some of the best…

    Young’s 186th Birthday Celebrations

Happy 186th Birthday to Youngs Pubs! To celebrate, Onin.London was invited to attend the Hop On, Hop Off bus tour on 21st September that featured three of Young’s Pubs in South West London. This event is just one of the many events Youngs, along with Geronimo Inns, is hosting as part of their The Great Hop Expedition. At each pub we met the brewers, learnt the stories, ingredients and tastes of some of the beers on offer, with a particular focus on hops (the herbs of beer). I learnt more about beer in this one evening then I have…
