
Iconic London Pub, The Bishop in East Dulwich, Reopens After Huge Makeover
The Bishop pub in East Dulwich reopened its doors on the 6th November. The popular venue has enjoyed a six-figure enhancement, and features a full renovation including chic furniture, urban wall treatments and warmer lighting to elevate the pubs ambience. In addition to its stunning makeover, the pub is introducing completely reimagined drink and food menus curated from the finest selection of fresh, seasonal ingredients.
The Bishop has been revitalised with exciting new features and a fresh aesthetic. Guests are greeted by statement pendant lighting that casts a warm winter glow, complemented by a stylish classic wooden bar and plush leather seating for ultimate comfort. Additionally, there’s a stunning feature ceiling that enhances the ambiance, creating an inviting atmosphere. The venue also has an array of distinctive decorations, including bold curated artwork that adds character as well as stunning monochrome tiling. To top it off, there’s a vibrant beer garden with a rooftop vibe, making it the perfect spot to unwind with friends and loved ones after a long day at work during those cosy winter evenings.
Led by Head Chef Martin Scerbak, the Bishop’s new menu redefines traditional pub dishes by combining familiar flavours with innovative pairings. While pub classics remain, the real highlights are the chef’s original creations, curated. to surprise and delight.

Diners are invited to try dishes like the Ssamjang Pulled Mushroom served on sourdough crumpet with spring onion and coriander – a vegan dish brimming with rich, vibrant flavours. Also not to be missed is the Roasted Squash and Chickpea Salad, accompanied by charred onions, superstraccia, and a puy lentil dressing, offering a hearty, plant-based option.
For those looking for a taste of seafood, the Chalk Stream Smoked Trout with confit baby potato, heritage beetroot salad and sour cream offers a refined, savoury experience. Another highlight is the Beetroot Hummus paired with creamy crematta, crispy chickpeas, and sourdough flatbread—a refreshing, flavour-packed dish.
“We wanted to create a menu that resonates with the community while also pushing the boundaries of what people expect from pub food,” says Martin. “Each dish has been thoughtfully designed to bring an element of surprise and to showcase fresh, vibrant ingredients in a new light.”
The drinks offering has also been reimagined, featuring inventive twists on classic favourites like the Honey Espresso Martini, Orange & Ginger Martini and Aperol & Rhubarb Spritz. Guests can also enjoy a full selection of lagers, wines, ciders, and spirits with a selection of small plates, sides and bar snacks to choose from. Bar snacks include Sesame chicken skewers with ssamjang sauce and triple-cheese truffle straws with truffle artichoke dip, ideal for an after-work treat.
