Sunday Lunch at The Farmer’s Mistress: A Neighbourhood Gem

If you’re looking for a Sunday lunch experience that combines warmth, comfort, and an inviting atmosphere, look no further than The Farmer’s Mistress. Tucked away in the heart of Battersea, this cosy yet vibrant restaurant has become a go-to destination for locals and visitors alike, offering a delicious Sunday roast that’s as hearty as it is satisfying.

As soon as you step inside, the lively buzz of conversation fills the air, a testament to its popularity as a bit of a local spot. There’s an undeniable charm about The Farmer’s Mistress that makes it feel like a home away from home – definitely a casual dining space.

When it comes to Sunday roast, the main event is, of course, the food. The Farmer’s Mistress does not disappoint. We opted for the roast lamb, and the portion was nothing short of generous. A beautifully tender cut of lamb was served alongside a literal mountain (!) of perfectly roasted vegetables—carrots, parsnips, potatoes, and more. The standout, though, was the Yorkshire pudding, which was enormous, golden, and crisp. It had the perfect crunch on the outside while remaining airy and soft on the inside, creating a satisfying contrast with the rich flavours of the roast. Every bite was a comforting celebration of classic British fare.

But what really made the meal memorable was the balance of flavours. The lamb was cooked to perfection, with a slightly smoky, tender texture that practically melted in the mouth. The vegetables, cooked with just the right amount of seasoning, complemented the dish without overwhelming it. The sheer size of the serving made it clear that The Farmer’s Mistress doesn’t believe in skimping on quality or quantity. You’ll leave feeling fully satisfied and definitely well-fed.

After the indulgence of a hearty roast, it was time to make room for dessert. The pistachio tiramisu is a must-try. Served directly at the table, the presentation alone was enough to make us excited, and such a personal touch! A decadent blend of mascarpone, pistachio cream, and coffee-soaked biscuits created a rich, velvety texture that was impossible to resist. The pistachio flavour added a unique twist to the classic tiramisu, bringing a lovely nuttiness that made each bite feel even more indulgent. It was the perfect end to a satisfying meal, offering a sweet, creamy finish that lingered on the palate.

What’s a great meal without great drinks? At The Farmer’s Mistress, the cocktail menu is thoughtfully crafted, ensuring you have the perfect beverage to accompany your Sunday lunch. We kicked things off with a Bloody Mary—spicy, tangy, and refreshingly bold. It had just the right amount of heat, with a rich, savoury flavour that paired wonderfully with the roast lamb. For a touch of sweetness and indulgence, we also tried the espresso martini after dessert, which was served ice-cold and rich with coffee flavour.

A perfect Sunday afternoon experience, The Farmer’s Mistress should be at the top of your list for a delicious and memorable Sunday feast.
