Lucky Cat By Gordon Ramsay Review
On Tuesday, I took my parents and my twins to Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay. The restaurant is an Asian restaurant located on Grosvenor Square, Mayfair, not far from Bond Street Station. The venue is inspired by 1930s Tokyo kissas and Shanghai drinking dens and opened in 2019 and influenced by Gordon Ramsay’s travels across Asia. It is the first of two Lucky Cats in London.
The menu takes diners on a journey through Asian cuisines including sashimi and sushi from the raw bar, signature dishes such as Korean Spiced Black Cod, Gordon Fried Chicken, Duck Bao and short ribs, all made with premium, carefully sourced ingredients. We had the all of these dishes except swapped the short rib for lamb chops. I throughly enjoyed all of them though my mum wasn’t a huge fan of the Gordon Fried Chicken. The Duck Bao and the Sashimi were standouts for us and we could have gone a second round of each of these. The Yellowfin Tartare was also a must try dish. It was also fun watching the Sashimi chef while dining and he was more than happy to talk to my dad about the best Sashimi there is… in his opinion it’s Blue Fin Tuna.
In terms of other dishes, there were mixed opinion on the Udon Noodles and Fried Rice, with me liking them but my dad finding the Udon Noodles overcooked. As someone who Gordon would probably call an “Idiot Sandwich” for liking overcooked pasta, it’s up to debate who was right here.
Cocktails are said to be stunning but my mum and I opted for Mocktails in the form of the Yuzu Breeze. We couldn’t have been happier! Refreshing and light, we would have been happy to have multiples of these on the day.
Having been to both Lucky Cats in London, the Mayfair had a very different vibe and felt more intimate, while the Bishopsgate was all about the vibes and the view.
Lucky Cat provides diners with semi-private and private dining experiences, bespoke tasting menus, and boutique masterclasses which cover sushi, sake, desserts and cocktails. The restaurant continues to reinforce its reputation as one of London’s most immersive and must visit dining destinations. We throughly enjoyed our time there, especially as staff were polite and attentive to not only us but all guests on the day we visited.
