Step Inside a World of Urban Art at art’otel London Hoxton
A one of a kind hotel designed in collaboration with a street art icon
art’otel London Hoxton isn’t just a hotel – it’s a living, breathing canvas shaped by its Signature Artist, D*Face. A defining feature of every art’otel, the Signature Artist concept sees a carefully chosen creative talent take the reins of the hotel’s artistic vision, ensuring art isn’t just displayed but fully integrated into the guest experience.
For London’s second art’otel, there was no better match than D*Face, one of the most influential street artists of his generation. With roots in the East London art scene and a career dedicated to redefining urban spaces, D*Face’s bold, rebellious aesthetic is woven into the fabric of the hotel.
MEET D*FACE
London-born Dean Stockton – aka D*Face – has spent over two decades shaping the global street art movement. Renowned globally, D*Face’s art transcends the conventional gallery space, embracing the urban environment as canvas. Each of D*Face’s pieces lifts from his eclectic artistic background, influenced by pop culture, comic book references and eye-catching style to present a masterpiece of design and hospitality.
Most famous for the satirical lens he applies to his comic strip-like murals, D*Face has previously applied his skill to designing standout album covers for the likes of Christina Aguilera and Blink 182. A pioneer of street art in the UK, D*Face founded the first contemporary gallery in London dedicated to urban art – StolenSpace Gallery – in the early 2000s, a cornerstone of the city’s creative landscape which is still open in Shoreditch. Adopting a forward-thinking approach to art and its expansive application, D*Face has long been dedicated to creating immersive art that transfixes viewers with his rebellious touch.
To date, D*Face has painted over 130 murals across the globe, ranging from key tourist locations in Asia like Tokyo and Seoul to LA and Miami in the USA, while his European murals dominate capital cities like Reykjavik, Paris, Madrid and Berlin.
WHY D*FACE? WHY HOXTON?
Hoxton is the beating heart of London’s street art and creative culture. A hub for artists, designers, and musicians, it has long been home to the city’s most dynamic and rebellious creative minds. With its industrial past, ever-evolving art scene, and legacy of graffiti-lined streets, Hoxton is a natural home for D*Face, whose work was born in this very environment.
D*Face’s connection to Hoxton runs deep – from his early days pasting stickers across Shoreditch walls to his global career that has brought him back full circle to art’otel London Hoxton, where his vision now defines an entire hotel.
ART AT EVERY TURN
D*Face’s influence is present in every corner of the hotel, from bedrooms and bathrooms to public spaces. Whether admiring one of D*Face’s designs as you enter a new floor, or dining beneath the bask of a bold mural with a delicious meal, art’otel London Hoxton invites guests to live among the art to ensure an unforgettable, cultural experience. Each of D*Face’s artworks has been created to stand out; uniting art’otel Hoxton’s unique interior with D*Face’s unmistakable cultural insignia.
Artworks include the unmissable A Brush With Love, visiblealong the hotel’s escalator, uniting D*Face’s urban environment ideology with his distinctive mark-making. As guests ascend, D*Face’s signature characters beam outward alongside D*Face’s key motifs including iconic D*Dog stickers and Wing Bolt logo.
Outside the hotel, at the main entrance, the Mobile Telephone is situated. These original, iconic, K2 red telephone booths date back to 1924, they’ve become a rarity in London over the years, so much so that D*Faces’s little helpers have plans of their own for it!
A large sculpture of D*Dog awaits guests on the first floor. Developed on a paper pad over a quarter of a century ago, D*Dogis the iconic winged companion of D*Face (and man’s best friend) which is now pasted and tagged in various sizes across the globe. On the same floor, guests can find the Certain Romance Mural -a distinct collage of textural strokes that play host to D*Face’s legion of iconic characters.
A landmark addition to East London’s street art legacy, D*Face’s monumental bronze sculpture, D’s Little Helper has now been unveiled outside the hotel. Inspired by the artist’s long-standing fascination with mark-making, the larger-than-life paintbrush character symbolises creativity, rebellion, and the artistic energy of Hoxton. Originally conceived over a decade ago, the piece nods to D*Face’s early works while celebrating the area’s legacy of public art. Designed for interaction, the sculpture, represents a commitment to preserving Hoxton’s rich artistic heritage and reinforcing the area’s reputation as a global hub for urban creativity.
