Easter Sunday tops travel demand as London faces bank holiday transport disruption
Easter Sunday is emerging as the peak travel day for Londoners over the bank holiday according to booking data from chauffeur service Blacklane, but widespread travel disruption threatens to derail journeys across the capital.
Currently, 57 per cent more rides are booked on Easter Sunday (20 April 2025) compared to Good Friday (18 April) in London. However, travel chaos is looming across the full bank holiday break on London’s rail network, including impacting train services for both Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
Traditionally, Good Friday has been the busiest day for chauffeured travel around and out of the capital. For Easter 2024, nearly a third (29 per cent) more Blacklane bookings were made on Good Friday compared to Easter Sunday as travellers made the most of the extended weekend.
Euston station will be closed, halting all West Coast mainline services. Meanwhile, South Eastern routes are suspended from Victoria Station, with only a reduced service operating on the Gatwick Express. Heathrow bound travellers will find further challenges with a reduced service on the Elizabeth Line between Paddington and Heathrow Airport in all directions, in addition to a reduced service on the Heathrow Express.
James Dow, general manager London for global chauffeur service Blacklane, explains:
“Planning ahead is crucial for Londoners looking to travel this Easter, particularly if they are going further afield. We urge them to double check their usual routes to avoid headaches as trains are not running as expected.
“Our longer distance city-to-city journeys, and airport transfers, are in very high-demand as Londoners look for a stress-free and reliable alternative way to escape the city.”
Blacklane offers comfortable, stylish and reliable chauffeur-driven journeys in and around London, including airport transfers, and longer city-to-city routes connecting the Capital to the best long weekend destinations.
