HUŌ Review

It can often be tricky to find somewhere for dinner that feels like you’re in central London, but actually is only a short drive from home; HUŌ however really ticked this box.

HUŌ is the newest Asian restaurant to open in Belsize Village, showcasing clean, fresh and healthy food from around China and Southeast Asia. The decor was bright and I loved that we were sat at a round table; made it so much warmer for my cousin and to chit chat and catch up with each other!

As well as classic cocktails, they had several cocktails that offered an Asian twist on a classic – so we ordered a Lemongrass Bloody Mary and a Rising Sun (vodka, prosecco, raspberries and blackberries). From the minute we arrived, the staff were warm and friendly, and they were super helpful and gave us good advice of which cocktail we would like depending on our taste.

We ate from a set menu, but their A La Carte is packed full of Asian classics; all of which I thought looked and sounded delicious. For starter, I had to their their vegetarian dim sum selection and it didn’t disappoint; they were light and packed full of flavour. For mains, I can never resist a Thai Green Curry and omg theirs was delicious. I opted for veg and tofu and the sauce was creamy with a nice kick to it. I was impressed that it was served with a side of vegetables and the portion sizes were so generous.

We had a really lovely meal and I loved the atmosphere – the restaurant is quite big so whilst it was busy midweek, it wasn’t too noisy and the service was attentive but not rushed.

The restaurant also had a lovely private dining room downstairs, which would be perfect for a get-together with friends or family. Will be keeping this in mind for future birthdays and get togethers!

I’m keen to go back and visit again and try some more dishes on their menu, so will definitely head back with my OH for date night sometime soon!
