Onin.London Stays At Holmes Hotel.
Marylebone has long been one of London’s most desirable neighbourhoods, and if I could afford to live there… I would! At its heart lies Holmes Hotel, a boutique sanctuary that captures the very essence of the area which is classic, refined and oh so inviting.

Now I first visited Holmes Kitchen many moons ago so was excited to revisit the area and finally get a chance to stay at the hotel which is spread across four immaculately restored Georgian townhouses. It really is a gorgeous hotel. We loved that the hotel was full of vintage curiosities and a subtle thread of Sherlock Holmes throughout, even encouraging us to do try solve a Sherlock Holmes style murder during our stay. The 118 rooms and suites are each individually styled, balancing comfort with character. Egyptian cotton bedding, smart technology and bespoke furniture create the perfect retreat, whether choosing a cosy Heritage Deluxe or the expansive Townhouse Loft Suites, which evoke the feel of a private London apartment. Every element feels considered, from the calming palette to the thoughtful amenities, making the hotel equally suited to leisure and business guests alike. I mean our room came with gorgeous bath salts which you can be sure I used as soon as I was able to.
We had a gorgeous suite when we stayed and honestly if squatters rights were a thing I don’t think I ever would have left. It was perfect and the bed extremely comfortable. Perfect for me at the time as I was heavily pregnant with twins. I’ve already mentioned the amenities but in need to mentioned them again… having robes, a record player and beautiful toiletries really does elevate a hotel stay.
My friend who could drink was a huge fan of the cocktails at dinner and recommends experimenting with the wine list as she found a few new favourite reds.
Holmes also impresses in its ability to meet the needs of modern travellers with sensitivity and care. If you’re an expectant mother, you will find the hotel refreshingly pregnancy-friendly as I did. I found staff attentive to comfort and wellbeing at every stage. At the Kitchen at Holmes, dietary needs such as a gestational diabetic and pregnancy friendly menu were accommodated with ease. While this may seem like a small detail, it’s one that speaks volumes about the hotel’s dedication to truly personalised service. As someone who eats out a lot in London, you’d be surprised at how many places can’t cater for this type of diet.
Holmes Hotel has succeeded in creating something truly special: a quintessential London hideaway that reflects the character of Marylebone itself… timeless, eclectic, and full of quiet charm. Plus you can’t knock the location, it’s a short stroll from Regent’s Park, Oxford Circus and the famous 22b Baker Street. Perfect if you’re visiting London for the first time and want to be in the city but not the bustling West End.
Rooms start at around £244 per night, so if you’re a fan of Sherlock Holmes and want to stay close to where he “resided” Holmes Hotel really is a great place to visit during your London stay.
