SMSH BN Review
There’s a new burger joint in town- London SMSH BN. SMSH BN is the result of five friends who share a love for smash burgers and vision for mouth-watering culinary experiences. They pride themselves on providing a smash burger concept that has redefined the classic smash burger experience with a modern twist and touch of elegance. Chef Mark Morrans is one of the co-founders.
The menu is simple with 3 burger choices, though there was a special one on the day we went. There’s the Wagyu House burger (£9.50), a Wagyu cheeseburger with American cheese (£10) and a vegan burger with vegan cheese (£9.50). They also serve breakfast items of a SMSH croissant (ham, cheese and egg or cheese and tomato) or an English Muffin with smashed sausage, egg, American cheese and special sauce.
My dad had the Wagyu House Burger which features a double patty on a potato bun with special sauce, pickled cucumber, pickled jalapenos, grilled onions and crispy shallots. We loved that it was a double patty and the wagyu was juicy.
I had the special of the day which was a steak house blue cheese burger for £13. It’s a wagyu patty with truffle mayo, bbq sauce, fried onion, beef bacon, cucumber pickle and blue cheese. With both burgers the shallots and onions gave more flavour.
Both burgers were very filling and we didn’t need dinner that night. We each had house made skin on French fries (£4). These are well seasoned- we liked the kick they had to them.
We were excited to try the milkshakes (£6) – I had planned to have a salted caramel one and my dad a black cherry- but unfortunately the machine was out of order. The coldness of the canned soft drinks was refreshing as we’d walked 30minutes in 30 degree heat. If you need caffeine then SMSH also serves coffee.
SMSH is located on the corner of Charring Cross Road and Denmark Street, across from TK Max and a short walk from Tottenham Court underground. There’s limited seating with about 4 stools inside facing out to Denmark St, and 4 outside on Denmark St facing in. The food is served in takeaway containers so it’s a quick turnaround and people seemed to get a stool pretty quickly whilst we were there. There’s pastel colours and a neon light. It’s a low key but quality burger joint.
