Sushi Kyu Review
Sushi Kyu is a hidden gem located on Brewer Street in the heart of Soho, London. The sister site to the restaurant Cubé in Mayfair, this under-the-radar spot offers a unique and intimate dining experience with only 10 seats, all set around the counter, where expert chefs create and prepare sushi in front of guests.
We were invited to try their Omakase menu, paired with English sparkling wine and Sake.
Sushi Kyu’s evening omakase (£71.80) includes a starter, eight pieces of omakase nigiri, one temaki roll and dessert. All of the chefs are rigorously trained at Cubé and we really enjoyed watching them prepare each of our dishes and explaining each of the ingredients and flavours that went into each piece. The fish was all extremely fresh and tasty and it was great to try so many different types of nigiri.
I also tried Sake for the first time – which was really light, and the flavour perfectly complimented all of the sushi we were served. To end the meal, we shared raspberry and apple sorbets, which were the ideal way to end the meal.
Sushi Kyu also serves an A La Carte menu, which includes a range of dishes to start including miso soup and edamame and signatures like Hamachi Yuzu Ponzu (Yellowtail in yuzu ponzu sauce) and Wagyu Beef Tataki (Lightly seared sliced Wagyu beef). Nigiri can be ordered individually, ranging from yellowtail to scallop, tuna, salmon and bream, along with fresh sashimi and sushi rolls.
To try it yourself, I’d recommend booking in advance as remember – there are only ten seats!
