WALTHAM FOREST LIGHT SHOW SPECTACULAR

This November, against a stunning backdrop, the destination venue Fellowship Square in Waltham Forest will be transformed into a light show spectacular. It promises to be an event like no other displaying across the breath-taking façade of Waltham Forest Town Hall. Produced by Guildhall Live Events, and featuring guests including Kerb+ for street food, a full-service bar from Big Penny Social and an array of street performers and entertainment from Fool’s Paradise and Drum Works.

The event is brought to you by Guildhall Live Events, part of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, who are experts in their field and created the Tower Bridge Blackout and Museum of London’s ‘Beasts of London’ projects, amongst many others. This November celebrate Guy Fawkes weekend with a difference, experience a more environmentally conscious event, replacing the traditional fireworks with a specially created light show and entertainment.

Join thousands of guests to enjoy watching this impressive award-winning Grade II listed building illuminated with lights, projections, and fire effects backed by an original musical performance. Be transported and dazzled by the mesmerising sound and visual storytelling. Immerse in the drama!

On board are several renowned artists working with the Guildhall Live Events team. This includes the hugely talented award-winning Zarah Hussain, whose art and creativity focuses on how spirituality, technology, and art connect. Hussain’s work is internationally exhibited, including at the William Morris Gallery and the Barbican in London, as well as the Sharjah Museum and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. As a long-time resident of Waltham Forest, Zarah’s creative input will offer incredible local insight with an international perspective.

Another globally recognised artist, Amelia Kosminsky will be joining the creative team to bring to life the Waltham Forest Light Show Spectacular, with her perspective on light sculpture and video art. Amelia’s work includes Lumiere Durham, Christmas at Kew, the Mayor of London’s City Lights festival, ‘Sparks of Nature’ shown in Piccadilly Circus for Art of London and ‘Singing with The Devil’ for the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

Josh Garner, a neurodiverse visual artist whose work incorporates filmmaking, animation, and projection mapping, brings another dimension to the magnitude of the light show.

The collaboration of these astonishing creative talents is brought together by Dan Shorten at the helm as Creative Director of Guildhall Live Events, an award-winning multimedia designer – a specialist in 3D, projection mapping, interactive VR, AR and XR- creating large-scale, dramatic and dynamic light, visual and sound performances, supported by the wider network of producers and artists at Guildhall.

The launch of Glow Marwell 2022 at Marwell Zoo.

The Waltham Forest Light Show Spectacular is a rare and exclusive opportunity to witness and participate in a visual and sound phenomenon.

There will be a full range of preshow performances from Fool’s Paradise, the international street performers, supported by the Arts Council England. With over 30 years of experience, they will be entertaining the crowds at each show with an eclectic lineup of talented artists. Expect to see the Ice People – elevated characters up to 7ft tall, towering above the audience juggling to ambient music. Joining them are the exquisitely presented stilt walking pieces, the Lightwalkers, a mesmerising costume illumination in an array of rainbow colours. At crowd level we have the Light Gliders, enigmatic sprite, and ballet dancers, dressed as glowing lanterns, dancing, whizzing around, and spinning elegantly amongst the crowds. Juggling Inferno, will also be part of the troupe, delighting with their impressive fire juggling acts and magnificent pattern making in the dark. Credit: Illustrative only, Fool’s Paradise

Drum Works, a Barbican Artistic Associate, will bring hundreds of local young musicians together from East London, inspiring creativity, collaborative music composition, empowerment and creating a powerful musical performance that is energetic and uplifting.

Come hungry! KERB+, will be bringing a delicious selection of London’s best independent street food businesses to Fellowship Square. With successful street food markets across London and a flagship food hall in Covent Garden (Seven Dials Market), KERB is all about celebrating small businesses with big flavours. Earlier this year, KERB set up a new social enterprise, KERB+. Now, they are cooking up positive social impact through street food by providing vital support and a slice of opportunity for those who need it the most. KERB+ are committed to reducing the street food scene’s impact on the planet, using only biodegradable packaging, with a ban on single-use plastic. Every dish not only supports small London businesses but the planet too! We are delighted to have them onboard at the Waltham Forest Light Show Spectacular event.

Big Penny will also be running a full-service bar in line with their offering at Big Penny Social venue at Blackhorse Road in a beautiful stretch marquee. The drinks menu will showcase the best of local with their locally brewed Big Penny beers, plus a special new limited-edition beer, brewed exclusively for this occasion, alongside mulled wine and cider, spirits, and soft drinks. Like all vendors at the event, Big Penny will use environmentally friendly cups and offer products with great sustainability credentials wherever possible.
