Go Crackers for Alex James & Jacobs Crackers’ FREE ‘Cracker Restaurant’ experiment
Iconic cracker brand Jacob’s has teamed up with handsome Blur bassist turned cheese-maker Alex James to launch London’s first cracker restaurant serving an exclusive gourmet cracker tasting menu. The restaurant will open for just one day only on the 22nd of June on fashionable Neal Street in Covent Garden and will be sharing a five-course lunch and six-course dinner menu with its lucky guests, all using fresh, seasonal British ingredients. The lunch menu will include a selection of banging brunch-style dishes including poached eggs and a Jacob’s spin on beans-on-toast. The dinner menu includes British classics with a creative Alex James-inspired-twist, such as prawn cocktail; roast beef, as well as a delicious dessert. All sounds rather tasty folks!
The tasting menu will be served entirely on Jacob’s Lunchtime crackers including their signature ciabattas, crispbreads, flatbreads and cream crackers. The event will be hosted by notorious foodie Alex James himself, who has created a gourmet menu of small-plate dishes, which re-imagine ordinary, every-day ingredients into something rare and unique. Well he is creative! The dishes hope to encourage people to think creatively when it comes to enjoying crackers for a snack or at mealtimes. Jacob’s Chief Taste Curator, Alex James, says: “I’ve always thought that cheese and crackers go together like bread and butter – the perfect match, made in heaven. But working on the tasting menu for the Jacob’s Cracker Restaurant, I’ve discovered a whole new world of delicious combinations – both sweet and savoury – and it’s been so much fun letting my imagination run wild. I hope people are inspired to create their own magnificent concoctions at home once they try some of our Jacob’s recipes.”
