SPELZINI A NEW HIT IN SHOREDITCH

Spelzini is a day-to-night social drinking and dining space in the heart of Shoreditch, that celebrates the best of British produce and the culinary traditions of London’s Mediterranean community. Spelzini provides the perfect back drop to a chilled and relaxed night in Shoreditch with an eclectic menu and great drinks.

Open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and a take on traditional Italian Aperitivo, Spelzini serves simple, quick and affordable dishes all day: from gastronomic Sandwiches to gluten-free Chickpea Flour Flat Bread Pizzas, Pastas and Salads. From 4.00pm – 7.00pm, Monday to Saturday, guests can enjoy a quintessentially Milanese style Aperitivo with free rotating bite-sized British Cicchetti-style plates, for those ordering from the eclectic drinks menu of wine, aperitifs and vermouth cocktails.

We headed down to Spelzini to try their new Cichetti sharing plates, a great selection of quick snacks that can be eaten any time of the day. Similar to how you would order Tapas, the Cichetti dishes are best shared between two with five or more dishes.

We decide to taste a few of the dishes on offer, from the toast and butter which is basically a heavenly fried slice made with the most amazing bread with a dollop of salted butter on the side. The caperberries, which are basically giant capers but pickled with storks on and super tasty, ok the owner explained it better than that (but seriously try them). We also nibbled on the York ham with mustard and the Caerphilly cheese served with granny smith apple.

We were a little bit hungrier and needed slightly more food than the small bites and decided to try the Pollo Pizza? Which was a twist on the Italian pizza with a slight Asian twist. The base is made from chickpea flour flat bread, which makes it gluten free and healthier so technically like eating a salad. If you want to try a yummy pizza style dish that won’t leave you bloated, then this is for you.

The one thing I can’t leave out is the atmosphere in the place, the owner and everyone who works there are amazing! Perfect to do some work, hang out with friends or chill on a date. Check them out!
