tenreformer | London’s Chicest Reformer Class
I recently tried a class at tenreformer in Islington, and it turned out to be one of those workouts that feels good from the moment you walk in. Some studios can feel a bit intense or intimidating, but this one had a much more relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
The studio itself is really nicely done. It’s bright, spacious, and feels clean and calm without being clinical. There’s enough room that you don’t feel crammed in, which makes a big difference when you’re trying to focus on your movements. It has that polished, new and aesthetic look, but still feels comfortable and easy to settle into.
I took one of their “Focus” classes, which is one of the options they offer alongside other styles that are a bit more intense. This one is slightly slower and more controlled, but still challenging in the right way. It didn’t feel rushed, which I liked, because it gave you time to really understand each movement and do it properly.

Even though it’s a more beginner-friendly class, it definitely still works you. You can feel your muscles engaging in a way that’s quite different from a typical gym workout. It’s more about control and precision than just pushing through reps, which actually makes it more effective. By the end, I felt like I’d had a proper workout, but not in an exhausting or overwhelming way – muscle ache the next day too!
What stood out the most was how personal the class felt. The instructor, Suzie, was really attentive without being overbearing, and the overall vibe was supportive rather than pressured. It didn’t feel like you had to keep up or prove anything, which made it much easier to just focus on your own workout.
The reformer machines themselves add something extra as well. They allow for a mix of strength and stretch, and you end up using muscles you probably wouldn’t normally target. It’s quite a full-body experience, but still low-impact, so it feels challenging without being harsh on your joints.

Another thing I liked was the variety of classes available. Whether you want something slower and more controlled like Focus, or something more intense, there’s clearly room to progress. It feels like somewhere you could keep coming back to without getting bored.
All in all, tenreformer in Islington feels like a really well thought-out studio. It manages to be both stylish and approachable, which isn’t always easy to get right. The class was the perfect level of challenging, the space was lovely, and the whole experience felt personal and relaxed.
