Britain’s priciest summer on record and the dining app that wants to buy you dinner to help keep restaurants full
As the cost of eating out continues to climb, EatClub – the offer based dining app – is launching its biggest ever consumer campaign to help diners enjoy more meals out while supporting restaurants when they need customers most.
Launching today, the £100 Challengegives every new member who downloads the EatClub app before 31 July the opportunity to unlock up to £100 in dining credit, funded by EatClub, to spend across participating restaurants within a 10-day period. Diners enjoy the savings, while EatClub reimburses participating restaurants for the credit, ensuring venues still benefit from every booking. The app is free to download, offers real-time discounts at thousands of restaurants and bars, and simply requires users to book and settle the bill through the platform.
The campaign comes as new figures show eating out in Britain has come under increasing cost pressure. According to the Office for National Statistics, restaurant and café prices have risen by more than 25% since 2022, adding further pressure to both consumers and hospitality businesses. At the same time, restaurants continue to face rising operating costs. The sector has united behind the new #VATsTheProblem campaign, fronted by Tom Kerridge, calling for hospitality VAT to be reduced from 20% to 10% in line with countries including France, Spain and Italy.
While the industry continues to campaign for longer-term support, EatClub is helping restaurants drive customers through their doors today. Rather than discounting peak trading, the app fills quieter periods with paying diners, generating additional revenue for venues while making eating out more affordable for consumers.
New members who register before 31 July 2026 are automatically enrolled in the £100 Challenge. Once activated, they have ten days to unlock the free dining credit across participating restaurants, with the app surfacing nearby off-peak offers in real time. The limited redemption period is designed to encourage diners to discover more restaurants while helping venues increase footfall during quieter trading hours.
Pan Koutlakis, CEO of EatClub, said: “Eating out shouldn’t feel like an occasional luxury, and restaurants shouldn’t have to rely solely on busy Friday and Saturday nights to survive. Our platform helps solve both challenges. Diners save money, restaurants welcome customers during quieter periods, and everyone benefits. The £100 Challenge is our biggest investment yet in helping people rediscover eating out while supporting the hospitality businesses at the heart of our communities.”
EatClub is available across most major UK cities, with ambitious rollout plans to ensure its UK-wide in the coming months.
