A Magical Festive Escape at MiMi Mei Fair

A Magical Festive Escape at MiMi Mei Fair

This season, MiMi Mei Fai, an exquisite Chinese restaurant (that I’ve always wanted to try) tucked discreetly behind a Georgian townhouse on Curzon Street has transformed into one of Mayfair’s most enchanting festive escapes. In collaboration with 1SW Events, the space has been reimagined with couture-level florals, intricate architectural detailing, and a soft, iridescent glow that wraps the entire townhouse in warmth and festive cheer. It feels less like stepping into a restaurant and more like entering a beautifully curated winter dream.

The positive experience began the moment I walked in, with staff helping me carry my pram upstairs and ensuring I was seated comfortably with my twins whilst I waited for my friend.  The restaurant is stunning and radiates a warmth which I enjoyed immensely. I was offered one of MiMi Mei Fair’s signature Mini Martinis to begin and these jewel-like cocktails are as elegant as they are delicious. Guests can choose from espresso-kissed Mini Noir, the delicately floral Eastern Blossom, and the smoky, subtly sweet Maple-tini. Each one is designed for refined, effortless sipping… the perfect prelude to the magic that follows. I chose Eastern Blossom and it was deliciously sweet and floral, just what I love in a cocktail.

This Christmas though, food is where it is at and guests are invited to  choose between the Festive Tasting Menu (£88pp) or the more indulgent Sharing Menu (£98pp). Both showcase the kitchen’s commitment to elevated Chinese gastronomy. We went with the indulgent sharing menu with highlights including the Apple Wood-Fired Roasted Peking Duck carved tableside. This dish really is a true showstopper for a reason and we had to ask for more pancakes and hoisin sauce as it was that good we savoured the dish slowly. This dish is served alongside a beautifully curated menu which includes decadent dim sum (with the truffle being a firm favourite), crisp Soft-Shelled Crab with sesame crumble (absolutely delicious) , and flavour-packed favourites like General Tso’s Chicken and Mala Spicy Tofu. The latter two dishes were spicy and full of flavour… even making a non Silken tofu eater like actually quite enjoy the dish.

We did wash our meal down with a margarita for my guest and a berry mocktail for myself, both were an absolute delight!

The experience concluded on an even higher note with luxurious seasonal desserts. My guest chose the Pecan Tart but it was the molten Chocolate Fondant which to me speaks pure festive decadence and was a delightful dessert.

MiMi Mei Fair has created something truly special this season: a feast for all the senses. It was a must-visit for anyone looking to celebrate the holidays in unforgettable style, especially for those wanting a more intimate and personal touch.

Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, without me having to ask which is always a positive in my books especially as a new mum. Thanks for having us and this is a restaurant I’m adding to my “I must go back to” list.
