What truly sets art’otel Battersea apart is how thoroughly it integrates art into every facet of the experience. I mean it must with a name like art’otel! Guests are encouraged to explore the hotel’s curated Art Gallery—an homage to Alexander Calder—and even the public restrooms have been turned into theatrical, immersive spaces. For a deeper dive, visitors can join a guided art tour or download the WONDERPASS to learn more about each piece on display. We didn’t do this on our visit but will be adding it to the must do list for next time we visit.

The next artist in residence is:

Fabio Catapano – Colorem
14–26 June 2025 |  Artist talk: 19 June, 6pm

Italian digital artist Fabio Catapano presents Colorem, a meditative digital series designed to slow us down. Set in serene, fluid motion, the works act as visual mantras – an antidote to the frenetic pace of the attention economy. With a background in digital anthropology and collaborations with Apple and Moncler, Catapano brings a humanistic approach to tech-based art.

Before we checked in though we enjoyed dining at the equally artful, JOIA—led by Michelin-starred chef Henrique Sá Pessoa. The restaurant was delivers inventive Iberian dishes and cocktails with unforgettable views. I loved that the restaurant catered to my dietary needs even without me having to question if it was ok for me to eat each dish. As soon as I mentioned I was pregnant the staff knew exactly what I could and couldn’t have on the menu. Pretty impressive as I’ve recently struggled with some restaurants where staff have add to check multiple times with the chefs or told me I could eat things I know I can not have.

We loved our room once we finished our gorgeous lunch of seabass, padron peppers, scallops and asparagus. My friend also throughly enjoyed her ceviche while I looked on in jealously. The basque cheesecake was absolutely delicious and definitely the perfect way to finish lunch!

The room… where do I start… gorgeous views, gorgeous decor and it was like our own little apartment. If only art’hotel wouldn’t notice if I moved in permanently. It was absolutely stunning.

We went upstairs to the gorgeous rooftop to enjoy the rooftop bar and pool for an hour and it was worth it. Definitely would have spent a lot more time up there if the weather had been more forgiving but that’s English weather for you. But guests can not miss visiting the heated rooftop infinity pool and hot tub as it really does offer jaw-dropping views of the Power Station and beyond. It’s the ultimate spot to watch the sunrise over the city or if you do need a bit of pampering, guests can also head down to art’otel’s spa to enjoy indulgent treatments by Proverb plus a sauna, steam room and state of the art gym.

After a great nights sleep, we had breakfast in the TOZI Grand Cafè where breakfast is made to order before enjoying a late checkout and heading home.
