Afuego pop ups, coming to a South London neighbourhood near you

If you haven’t heard of Afuego yet, where have you been?

Love everything Latino? You’re certainly going to want to try the pop ups spearheaded by Chef Yassir. A South London resident himself, he will be popping up in a number of nearbySouth London neighbourhoods, serving up his cult dishes.

Naughty by nature, the street food concept boasts a range of everyone’s favourite guilty pleasures – from burgers and tacos, to chicken, cauliflower bites, and loaded fries. What’s not to love?

Chef Yassir is truly passionate about what he does, starting his business in the pop up street food space, allowing him to build the brand reputation whilst partnering with fun, likeminded pubs and restaurants across the city.

Afuego is currently on permanent pop up at Brick Brewery, Arch 209 in Blenheim Grove. Alongside, he recently popped up in everyone’s favourite Clapham local, King & Co. This was where we got to experience the dishes, which were comforting and rich.

Our personal favourite dish was the Cheeseburger Tacos.Taking fusion to the extreme, the meaty filling was topped with mustard burger sauce, gherkins and ketchup, giving that classic all American taste we all know, love and maybe secretly enjoy a little too much. Mc Donald’s this is your fault.

Yassir confided that his favourite dish was the vegan burger. With the sheer amount of meat on the menu, I had to ask, ‘are you a vegan?’ Turns out, he’s not. He just makes the best vegan burger south of the river – we love the confidence.

For those who are intrigued the Super Vegan Burger boasts a spinach and butternut squash patty, served alongside fresh guac, Pico de Gallo, vegan cheese and a spiced chilli jam. Team that with the super fluffy brioche bun and you find yourself with a truly good, vegan burger.

The vibe at King & Co is always friendly and welcoming, offering up fun things to do throughout the week, including a must-do pub quiz and regular foodie collaborations and pop ups. These activations ensure to keep Clapham locals on their toes as they continue to seek out new and exciting experiences that can be enjoyed in the week, as well as the weekend.

Next on the pop up list for Afuego is Pratts & Payne in Streatham and you can experience Yassir’s menus from the 2ndOctober. If Clapham is your local and you’re sad you missed out on the first residency, fear not, Yassir will be returning to King & Co across the busy Christmas period – with dishes available from 27th November to 21st January 2024.

Affordable, no nonsense food, served with a smile. What more could you want this autumn/winter?
