Exclusive images of the extraordinary new hotel demonstrate how art’otel is bringing a contemporary and artistic twist to the Eternal City, in its most important year.

Located in the heart of Rome and overlooking the ancient Horti Sallustianiart’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio brings together bold design, immersive art experiences, a unique destination dining concept, and an atmosphere like no other. Close enough for convenience, with Rome’s iconic landmarks, shopping and transport hubs a short walk away, but far enough for tranquility, the hotel promises a glamorous, art-filled retreat for locals and travellers alike. As Rome enters its Jubilee year, the city begins to come together in a celebration that only happens a handful of times during a lifetime. With TimeOut naming the Rome Jubilee as the best thing to do in the world next year, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio opens at an ample time to enjoy the eternal city in all its glory.

The opening of art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio marks a significant milestone for art’otel, the contemporary lifestyle hotel brand owned by PPHE Hotel Group, known for its larger footprint of Park Plaza properties. Renowned for successful openings including London Battersea Power Station, London  Hoxton, Amsterdam, Zagreb, Berlin, and Cologne, art’otel continues to expand its European portfolio with a focus on immersive, art-led hospitality, and now landing in Italy for the first time with this truly luxurious five-star property.

A Living Canvas by Pietro Ruffo

Each art’otel is a masterpiece, brought to life by one carefully-selected Signature Artist, and Rome’s edition is no exception. Known worldwide for his artistic corpus and recently named Italy’s Artist of the Year by Inside Art magazine, Pietro Ruffo also collaborates regularly with major fashion houses including Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Dior and, most topical for Rome’s Jubilee year, his works are even permanently exhibited at The Vatican.

For art’otel, Ruffo has designed a collection inspired by Rome’s layered history – from the constellations above to the flora, fauna, and people who have shaped the city over centuries. Unlike any other hotel in the city, the 99 guestrooms, suites and public spaces of art’otel Rome are adorned with Ruffo’s dreamlike creations, with artworks etched into the hotel’s interior design itself. Celestial maps and zodiac signsl embellish the balconies of the 11 luxurious suites, whilst his Festina Lente and Gente di Roma artworks dress guestrooms and constellations adorn the lobby’s stone walls and woven into the carpeted corridors that take guests throughout the boutique wonderland.

A showcase like no other of Ruffo’s signature works, including originals, make the hotel the largest permanent collection of his work to date.

“The collection of art’otel unfolds stories of the different historical layers that have built Rome past and future, creating a meeting of nature, people, and stars on every surface and around every corner,” shares Pietro Ruffo, whose studio, fittingly, is housed in a former Roman pasta factory.

Gastronomy at its Finest

Rome’s newest hotspot features YEZI, a Pan-Asian restaurant and bar featuring a sun-drenched terrace designed by Pietro Ruffo.

Following its success at art’otel Zagreb, Executive Chef Werner Seebach and Head Chef Giordano Gianforchetti now bring this dynamic, modern, and unexpected cuisine to Piazza Sallustio as they celebrate the harmony of Asian flavours in an unparalleled design space with an experience inspired by the traditional Asian teahouse style of eating, drinking and socialising. Ruffo’s work enriches the experience, providing a feast for every sense, especially at the Chef’s table in front of the open kitchen, where Ruffo’s most iconic Anthropocene work stands grandly for its guests.

Menu items and cocktails alike are inspired by the ancient trade routes leading to Rome as cultures merge, blend and transform into something special. YEZI caters to locals and travelers alike with innovative cuisine, elevated cocktails, and vibrant aperitivo sessions with live weekend DJ sets.

For a deeper exploration into Ruffo’s works, the hotel showcases his exhibition Mappare I’Invisibile in its art gallery, open to both guests and locals for free. This exhibition inaugurates this ever-evolving art gallery that will continue to host dynamic exhibitions from renowned and emerging artists, the space is also bookable for private events. The cultural hub will also become home to the art’beat programme which will see an exclusive lineup of events centred on art, music, fashion, wellness and gastronomy brought to the hotel for guests and locals.
