A Perfect Sunday at Bingham Riverhouse: Spa Serenity, Sunday Roast and Riverside Strolls
Tucked away on the calm stretch of the Thames in Richmond, the Bingham Riverhouse offers an idyllic escape from city life, and my Sunday spent there was nothing short of restorative bliss. From the moment I stepped through its elegant doors, I knew I was in for a treat that balanced luxury, comfort and natural beauty in equal measure.
The day began with a visit to the serene wellness space tucked within the Riverhouse. My spa experience included a deep-tissue massage followed by time in the infrared sauna. The massage was transformative – firm but relaxing, easing tension from my shoulders and back with expert precision. The therapist was attentive and intuitive, customising the treatment to my needs without me having to say much. After the massage, I stepped into the infrared sauna where the dry, radiant heat worked its magic. Unlike a traditional sauna, it felt deeply soothing rather than stifling, and I left feeling lighter, calmer, and refreshed.
With my body fully relaxed, I made my way upstairs to the beautiful balcony terrace. Bathed in soft daylight and overlooking the leafy banks of the Thames, the terrace is a true gem of the property. The breeze was gentle, the river below quietly flowing- perfect conditions for unwinding with a glass of chilled wine as I watched rowers glide by. Time slows here, and it’s impossible not to feel present.
Lunch followed, and the Sunday roast at Bingham Riverhouse exceeded every expectation. The roast lamb was tender, cooked perfectly pink in the centre, and paired with seasonal vegetables that retained just the right bite. The star of the plate, however, was undeniably the Yorkshire pudding – towering, golden, and impossibly fluffy. I could talk about this Yorkie for days. Crisp on the outside and marshmallow soft within, it soaked up the rich, glossy gravy like a dream. The roast potatoes were equally divine: crispy edged and fluffy centred, seasoned generously.
After lunch, we took a gentle walk along the Thames towpath, which is just a few steps from the Riverhouse’s garden. With the sun light dappling through the trees, and families, dogs, and couples passing by, it felt very quintessentially Richmond. There’s a magic in this part of London that never fades – where the city slips into the background and nature takes centre stage. The air was fresh with the scent of summer blooms and river reeds, and the soft sound of water lapping at the banks was the perfect end to a restorative day.

Bingham Riverhouse isn’t just a place, it’s a whole experience. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful solo retreat or a romantic escape, a Sunday spent here offers all the ingredients for genuine rejuvenation: soul-soothing spa treatments, impeccable food, and one of London’s most beautiful riverside locations. I’ll certainly be returning – and next time, I think I’ll just stay the night!
