Bombay Sapphire Distillery Tour Review

A few weeks ago, I visited the beautiful BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Distillery, just 60 miles from London. Now I’ve been to a lot of distilleries over the years so I thought I knew loads about gin and the distilling process… I learnt so much more while visiting. We were able to  explore the ten exotic botanicals that go into every drop of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE within the stunningly beautiful Heatherwick Studio designed Glasshouses.

We spent the day with Sam (Mr Bombay) Carter, Bombay’s Senior Brand Ambassador. It was a great day learning all about the Gin, the brand, cocktails, botanicals and the distillery. We can’t thank him enough for such a fun day. Make sure you check out his Instagram for cocktail inspiration and more https://instagram.com/sapphiresamc?utm_medium=copy_link

When the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE distillery opened in 2014 its design was rated ‘outstanding’ by BREEAM, the world’s leading environmental assessment for buildingsThey are striving to be fully sustainable and they are pretty close. It was amazing to hear everything about what the distillery are already doing but what they have planned in the future.

Even visiting there are a number of experiences you can choose to do but I’d recommend doing both the Discovery Experience and Gin Cocktail Masterclass. Make the most of the day!

The Gin Cocktail Masterclass – the perfect interactive session on cocktail culture offering expertise on how to  create cocktails with specially trained Gin Experts.
Cinema Room & Turbine Bar –a brand new cinema room and interactive cocktail bar, serving up refreshed offerings of BOMBAY BRAMBLE, BOMBAY SUNSET and BOMBAY SAPPHIRE PREMIER CRU.
The Discovery Experience the ideal experience for gin lovers. Offering the most in-depth experience at the BOMBAY SAPPHIRE Distillery, with a trip to the Turbine Bar to create your own DIY Gin and Tonic and then a guided tour discovering the Heatherwick designed Glasshouses, the sensory Botanical Dry Room and more about the rare vapour infusion distillation process.

We loved the Bombay Bramble Clover Club we made during our cocktail masterclass. It was so much fun to make and I loved the tip Sam shared with us about dry shaking. It’s how you get that perfect foam.

Ingredients

  • 50 ml Bombay Bramble
  • 25 ml Fresh lemon juice
  • 20 ml sugar syrup
  • 1/2  egg white
  • Garnish
  • Raspberries
  • Blackberries

Method

  • Put some cubed ice into your cocktail shaker
  • Pour Bombay Bramble, lemon juice, sugar syrup and egg white into the shaker
  • Shake hard & strain into a chilled coupette or martini glass
  • Then remove ice and dry shake again!

When visiting make a full day of it and indulge in other local delights including the Michelin Star restaurant The Black Rat and The Woodspeen Cookery School.

There are numerous ways to get to The Bombay Distillery but the easiest way is a train from Waterloo to Overton then a taxi each way.

What are you waiting for? Visit now!! Especially with the weather warming up.
