Bravo to Lavazza and Anna Barnett for giving us brunch with a touch of ‘dolce vita’

Lavazza Brunch Alla Casa (6)

Brunch and coffee, what a paring – certainly two things that are certain to get foodies all over London excited. After a long week at work, there aren’t many better ways to enjoy a leisurely morning at the weekend than brunch with friends; great food, great company, and, if your anything like me, plenty of coffee. London certainly isn’t lacking in cool spots serving up all manner of brunch specialities for the lazy mid-morning meal, but why not try cooking up a feast of your own without even having to leave home? Thanks to Lavazza we can now get delicious barista style coffee in our own kitchen.

Since Luigi Lavazza founded his eponymous coffee business in Turin in 1895, it has grown into one of the most recognised brands in the world of coffee, and, while still run by the family, you certainly won’t find them resting their laurels. Head of Innovation and Training, Dave Cutler, thinks the growth in availability of styles and artisans producing coffee in recent years have generated real excitement around the industry. Not least because now more than ever before, high quality coffee is readily accessible for everyone at home, particularly with the boom in affordable, easy to use home espresso machines. Lavazza are very much part of this with their own line of machines and capsules.

While Lavazza might be seen as one of the industry’s big names (with a richer and more traditional flavour to their coffees), Dave is keen to point out that there’s the same passion and attention to detail in their products. Luigi started out as a small batch roaster of his day. Part of Dave’s job is to ensure that Lavazza remain at the head of the curve as the world of coffee continues to develop. Whether that’s developing their spherification techniques to create coffee caviar or using their cold brews to create cocktails with a new coffee zing they are masters of their trade. Continuing this theme of collaboration and innovation we celebrate the launch of their state of the art, elegant designed home coffee maker ‘A Modo Mio Jolie Plus’. Lavazza have teamed up with chef Anna Barnett to offer up some twists on the usual bunch offerings to make yours a little bit special, each with their own twist of coffee. Their offerings include:

  • Coffee and Caramel Hazelnut French Toast
  • Braised Coffee Rubbed Short Rib Tacos with Lime Slaw
  • Bomboloni (traditional Italian-style doughnuts) with Coffee and Hazelnut Cream

Why not try some of Anna’s delicious suggestions yourself to give your brunch a touch of ‘dolce vita’? What better way to serve them with than the coffee that inspired their creation!
