Celebrate The Lunar New Year At House Of Ming

Until the 11th February 2025, House of Ming are offering an exciting array of new dishes to celebrate the Lunar New Year, alongside two exquisite cocktails that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. Guests will also be treated to lucky red envelopes, each containing wonderful surprises.

Onin.London visited last Saturday and were treated to a meal fit for a king. It’s really no surprise when 2025 marks the Year of the Snake, and House of Ming has drawn inspiration from this intelligent and mysterious creature for its new offerings, which reflect the snake’s refined and surprising nature. The special menu will features enticing dishes like Golden Garlic Steamed Lobster, Whole Seabass with smashed ginger and soy sauce, Firecracker Chicken, and Sichuan Style Oriental Vegetables.

For starters we chose some delicious dim sum, Hot and Sour Soup and Scallops. House of Ming really knocked it out of the park with these starters. My friend had been dubbed the Hot and Sour Soup connoisseur and is on a mission to find the best Hot and Sour Soup in London, she gave House of Ming’s 8 out of 10! The scallops melted in your mouth.

For mains, we couldn’t skip the Pork, Golden Steam Lobster or the Whole Seabass and with each bite it was like a flavour explosion. I cleaned the plate of every bite of that lobster! It was perfection. We accompanied the dishes with Special Fried Rice and some noodles which were just great.

To complement the celebration, House of Ming has crafted two unique cocktails that embrace the spirit of Chinese New Year. The Clever Snake cocktail honors the traditional Chinese tale of ‘The Great Race,’ which saw the snake and horse collaborate for victory. This beautifully refreshing drink combines pear liqueur, white pear juice, lime juice, agave syrup, and Xin Li He Fen Baijiu, a traditional Chinese spirit associated with good fortune and unity during Lunar New Year. I’m currently doing dry January so staff made this cocktail non-alcoholic for me and it was gorgeous! I really do love that non-alcoholic cocktails are tasting more and more like cocktails rather than just fancy fruit juices.

The second cocktail, Victory over Nian, pays homage to the legendary beast Nian, who was scared away by villagers with firecrackers and loud noises. This vibrant cocktail features vodka, elderflower liqueur, and Chu Yeh Ching Chew, celebrating the themes of triumph, well-being, and prosperity. It was served on a chessboard with a bit of theatrics and my guest loved it!

On 29th January, to honor the cherished tradition of gifting red envelopes, all guests dining at House of Ming will receive a red envelope containing a gold coin special offer. This tradition symbolizes the sharing of good fortune for the year ahead, making your Lunar New Year celebration even more memorable.

Don’t miss the opportunity to indulge in this exquisite feast and toast to elegance and fortune at House of Ming!
