Changing times call for changing wines at 28°-50° Maddox Street

Named after the latitudes within which most of the world’s vineyards are found, the 28°-50° Wine Workshop and Kitchen takes the traditional wine bar experience to a new status. Not concerned with regular, run-off-the-mill wines these guys only serve wines they like and that are interesting in a good way. If you’re looking for a standard house wine they’d probably be tempted to point you towards an old man’s pub. No offence to old man’s pubs!

Their range of wines is higher than the average wine bar and the list changes all the time, so you’ll never get bored of the different grapes and styles available when you visit. And if you’re clueless about what wine goes with what they’ll gladly recommend the best for this and that.

They also have a unique ‘Collectors’ List’ of fine wines developed by their Wine Buyer and compiled from several of their friends who are private collectors. The collectors have agreed to let them sell wines from their personal cellars so they can offer curious customers unusual and mature wines at their peak. Some of which are rarely seen in restaurants. And these are also accessible to buy. You heard it from us first!

28°-50° Maddox Street, the third in the collection of three sites, opened in the heart of Mayfair in 2013. Owned by Michelin star Chef Patron Aggi Sverrisson of TEXTURE, 28°-50° provides a relaxed and informal dining experience from a modern-European, seasonally focused menu. Clement Robert, Group Head Sommelier and Wine Buyer for the Texture Restaurant Group has forged an impressive career in the hospitality industry which has seen him develop from graduating with a Sommelier degree in 2005 to achieving the sommelier trade’s highest accolade – Master Sommelier 10 years later. Clement joined 28°-50 as Group Head Sommelier in October 2015. Overseeing the wine cellar, Clement focuses on strengthening the bar and kitchen’s excellent reputation for great wine lists.

Changing times call for changing wines these days. The waiters here genuinely love to recommend fine wines to pair with your food and who’s to stop them?
