Chesa Canggu Review

Bali is one of the most beautiful places I’ve visited and during our trip, we were invited to stay at the equally beautiful Chesa Canggu.

A moment of calm in the middle of Canggu, Chesa is the perfect escape from the busy beach town. Chesa Canggu is a boutique hotel with 36 rooms and has been open since 2023. Our room had real charm and felt very luxurious, with little touches that made us feel right at home. I loved the minimalist design of it, and we had gorgeous towel art upon arrival; which made us feel really special. We also had a view of one of the two pools, which has big poolside sofas, comfy loungers and a handful of cosy cabanas. After a day exploring Canggu, we couldn’t resist a dip in the pool, which was super clean and peaceful.

As well as gorgeous rooms, we had two great meals at THARA Kitchen & Bar. The restaurant serves a fusion of global delicacies with Asian influences, all of which resulted in modern dishes that were packed full of taste. At dinner, we both had a mocktail and tried the Salmon Arancini and Beef Toast to start. Both were so tasty, we knew we were in a treat when it came to the mains. My other half went for the Steak (as always) and I had a delicious Salmon dish, served with seasonal vegetables, rice and a rich teriyaki sauce. After such a delicious dinner, we were excited to go back the next morning for breakfast and lunch!

For breakfast, my OH had a filled breakfast croissant and I opted for a Peanut Butter and Banana smoothie before a day out in town. Unfortunately mid-afternoon I started to have tummy cramps similar to the notorious Bali belly, and honestly the hotel team couldn’t have been more helpful. After phoning down to reception to ask if they could recommend any medication, the amazing team brought me up some congee and an oil for my stomach which over time, helped the pain ease. I was so touched by their hospitality and kindness – they really went above and beyond to make me as comfortable as possible.

During our tour of the hotel, we were also shown their newly opened Lounge and a state of the art Gym. The Lounge was filled with sofas and coffee tables with panoramic views of the Canggu skyline and would be an ideal place to sit with a laptop if I’d needed to do any work. They also offer snacks and drinks for all guests at the hotel and have a private dining area for gatherings. I didn’t use the gym, but my OH did and said the facilities were great. It was nice and quiet, had great equipment and most importantly; great aircon!!

Chesa Canggu offers considered luxury at an accessible price point, a rare find in in a town where style
often comes at a premium. I’m so impressed by our stay and the team at the hotel; I really wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone and would love to go back again for a longer stay!
