CitizenM Bankside Partners with Hedger for Instagramable Christmas Installation

This year, as part of its annual Secret Garden series, hotel citizenM Bankside is partnering up with London-based artist and illustrator Thomas Hedger for a new Instagram worthy installation. Called Christmas in Colour the artwork features Hedger’s popular trademark – bold colours, and creative use of shapes.

Inspired by the festive season, the artwork consists of a collection of 1x3m banners that distill recognisable festive symbols such as holly leaves and candy cane down to their raw forms. Visitors will be able to recognise the motifs via the clever use of patterns, colours and themes.

Those who want to get a snap of the new artwork can find the banners hung in citizenM Bankside’s Secret Garden courtyard. For the hotel’s facade, Hedger will create four floor-to-ceiling optical pieces of art, which change depending on where you are standing.

Art lovers will be pleased to hear Hedger will be hosting two intimate workshops, on 4th and 6th December. During the workshops, you will learn how to create modern Christmas cards and gift tags using paper cut outs and stencils.

The workshops are open to the public. Hot beverages and snacks served by the hotel will be available.

Installation dates:
The exhibition will be open to the public 9am – 7pm every day from 1st December 2018 –  2 January 2019.
