Relaxed Sundays at Covent Garden’s Cora Pearl

This elegant restaurant is the perfect Sunday spot

In the heart of Covent Garden, Cora Pearl has quickly established itself as one of London’s most beloved dining destinations. Part of the Kitty Fisher’s restaurant group, Cora Pearl offers delightfully comforting food in a historic Covent Garden townhouse. Named after the renowned 19th-century courtesan, Cora Pearl combines a refined yet inviting atmosphere, allowing guests to savour expertly crafted dishes that pay homage to classic European dishes.

Since opening its doors in 2018, Cora Pearl has become a standout in Central London, earning a reputation for its layered chips and classic British dishes. Embodying the essence of its muse, who was known for her allure and lavish lifestyle, the venue epitomises indulgence and elegance.

The interiors of Cora Pearl exude romance, making it the perfect spot for an intimate dinner or a quick bite before heading to the theatre. With its warm colours, plush seating, and elegant decor, the restaurant creates an inviting atmosphere that encourages relaxation and enjoyment. Thoughtfully designed lighting adds a touch of sophistication, while charming details throughout the space reflect the restaurant’s unique character.

Sundays are the ideal day to visit with the buzzy Covent Garden crowds and fantastic Sunday lunches on offer. On entry you’re charmed. The walls are adorned with fun and quirky artworks, and the easy-going friendly nature of the team immediately puts you at ease.

You’re encouraged, which I loved, to enjoy a cocktail to start, and I opted for a twist on a classic Paloma which was utterly delicious. The restaurant has made a name for itself by offering elevated comfort food that highlights British cuisine with seasonal ingredients, and the Sunday menu is varied yet concise.

Starters varied from a Cauliflower Soup with Toasted Chestnuts, to an Endive, Walnut, Stilton & Pear Salad. For mains there was a choice between Roast Sirloin & Horseradish, Roast Lamb & Mint Sauce and Roast Chicken & Bread Sauce. Each roast is served with Crispy Potatoes, Cauliflower Cheese, Honey Glazed Carrots, Hispi Cabbage & a Yorkshire Pudding. The starters and mains were well portioned and delicious – you could really tell the ingredients were fresh and seasonal.

Complementing the food offerings is an impressive wine list. Tom Mullion and Oliver Milburn, Directors of Cora Pearl, have created one of Covent Garden’s most beloved dining spots. Cora Pearl is the sister restaurant to the acclaimed Kitty Fisher’s in Mayfair, continuing their reputation for exceptional dining in London. I have to admit, Kitty Fisher’s is next on my list!
