Creative London: Bonbon Balloons

Rebecca-3_LR

Bonbon is a luxury balloon company based in East London. We create the most wonderful balloons that you ever did see!

They offer a bespoke design service for private events such as weddings, parties, pop up installations and corporate events. With each client we explore colours and themes to develop something totally individual. Bonbons come in a rainbow of coloured and confetti filled balloons. Each balloon has a beautiful decorative string that has been hand crafted. You can also send a bonbon balloon as a gift for any occasion. On arrival it will float up out of the box and the strings will carry your own specially personalized message.

Their aim is to create something special that will make you and others smile, whilst being a beautiful feature in any surrounding.

Being a lover of all things creative we caught up with founder of Bonbon balloons Rebecca Moyster

1. Can we say that you have the coolest business on the planet! Why balloons?

Why thank you! I guess I wanted to start my own business and do something really creative. I have always been obsessed with the images of the giant balloon. The ones on the sea by Tim Walker and I had copies of them inside my notebook. I then just started thinking why is no one making cool balloons because they should be amazing and the balloon string should be a beautiful feature and neglected. I then bought a disposable helium canister, a giant balloon and create my first decorative balloon string and gave it a go.

2. Have you always ran your own business? We know you are a parent, did that drive Bonbon Balloons?

I began my career 2004 after graduating from Central Saint Martins with a degree in Textile Design and my first job was at Burberry developing the accessories. I then went on to work at Designers Guild developing Interior fabrics and wallpaper. I gave up my job four years ago to start my own business and Bonbon Balloons came in to my head about a week later. I had my Son a year ago so being a parent is something that came much later.

3. Being a giant kid, I have always dreamed of having an all balloon party, literally a giant room of white balloons and disco music. Whats the strangest balloon request you have had?

We had a request to created some balloons for the photographer Nick Knight which was a dream! He shot this amazing video of this model licking and popping the balloons it was amazing!!

4. Who would be your dream client?

Tim Walker, I would love to create some really decadent balloons for a big editorial fashion shoot. I would then replace my old Tim Walker images in my notebook with some new shots with Bonbons in them.

5. Who is Rebecca, what makes you tick and what really drives your creativity?

Balloons make me tick! I dream in balloons most nights! …  I love textures and I look a colours for inspiration and always start with the colour palette when creating balloons. My clients definitely drive my creatively as our balloons are bespoke so every day and every week is different in the studio and we are always creating new designs and ideas for so many different themes and events.
