A Stunning End to a Maldives Trip | CROSSROADS

After spending two weeks in The Maldives – we were almost ready to head back to the mainland to summarise our stay. However, we weren’t quite ready to let go. Along our trip, we had many recommendations from locals that the CROSSROADS resort was the perfect place to get out of Male and enjoy the beach and turquoise waters one last time – just a short journey from the mainland and airport.

CROSSROADS Maldives is a unique destination – located just 15 minutes by boat from Malé and Velana International Airport, it offers a level of accessibility that is rare in the Maldives. This close proximity to the mainland means that not only international travellers can enjoy it, but locals also frequently visit for a quick escape, often purchasing a lagoon day pass to enjoy the beaches, restaurants, and facilities for a fun day out.

Unlike the traditional one-island, one-resort concept that the Maldives is known for, CROSSROADS Maldives is a fully integrated, multi-island lifestyle destination. It combines resorts, dining, shopping, entertainment, and cultural experiences into one connected space. This makes it feel less like a secluded resort and more like a vibrant island community where there is always something to see or do.

The destination is home to two main resorts: SAii Lagoon Maldives, Curio Collection by Hilton, and Hard Rock Hotel Maldives. Each offers a completely different atmosphere. SAii Lagoon has a relaxed, tropical feel that focuses on comfort and understated luxury, while Hard Rock Hotel brings a lively, music-inspired energy to the experience. Together, they create a balance that caters to a wide range of travellers – offering a little bit of everything to its lucky guests.

During our stay, we chose to stay at SAii Lagoon in an overwater villa, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip. The villa was beautifully designed and sat directly above the lagoon, offering uninterrupted views of the ocean. One of the most memorable features was the overwater hammock, which became our favourite spot to relax. Floating above the clear water while watching marine life swim beneath us felt incredibly peaceful and indulgent at the same time.

The water throughout the resort was crystal clear, with those signature shades of blue that make the Maldives so iconic. Whether stepping straight from the villa into the sea or walking along the beach, the natural beauty was constantly present. The beach at SAii Lagoon provided a quieter, more laid-back environment, perfect for unwinding during the day.

We spent a good portion of our time exploring The Marina, which is the central hub of CROSSROADS Maldives. This is where the destination really comes to life. During the day, it has a relaxed atmosphere where people stroll between shops and restaurants, while in the evening it becomes more lively, with music, events, and social energy filling the space. It’s also home to the only nightclub in the Maldives, which adds a completely different dimension to the experience and makes it stand out from other resorts in the country.

Dining across CROSSROADS Maldives was a highlight in itself. For lunch, we visited Miss Olive Oyl, a seafood-focused restaurant overlooking the marina. The views were stunning, stretching across the water, and the menu celebrated fresh, ocean-inspired flavours. It was the perfect setting for a relaxed midday meal.

In the evening, we headed to Hard Rock Cafe Maldives for cocktails. The atmosphere there was vibrant and social, with music and energy that carried through the night. It’s a great spot to enjoy drinks while taking in the waterfront views and soaking up the lively ambiance – often accompanied by live music.

Dinner was at Hard Rock at Sessions, where we experienced a seafood buffet set directly on the beach. Dining with the sand underfoot and the sound of the ocean nearby created a special setting, but what really made the evening memorable was the entertainment. Fire eater performances lit up the night and added a dramatic and exciting touch to the experience.

What makes CROSSROADS Maldives particularly special is its scale and variety. The resort is large and offers a wide range of activities and experiences all in one place. From beach relaxation and water sports to shopping, dining, and nightlife, it truly functions as a one-stop destination. Guests can move seamlessly between different environments depending on their mood, whether they want something quiet and relaxing or more energetic and social. Ideal for a one-night stay, all the way to a two week trip.

It’s also a destination that works for different types of travellers. Couples can enjoy romantic overwater villas and private beach moments, families can take advantage of the activities and facilities available, and groups of friends can make the most of the nightlife and social scene. Even those who are not staying overnight can experience the destination through day passes, which adds to its inclusive and accessible appeal.

Overall, CROSSROADS Maldives offers a fresh and modern take on the Maldivian experience. It combines the natural beauty that the Maldives is famous for with a level of convenience, variety, and energy that is hard to find elsewhere in the country.

It is not just a place to stay, but a place to explore, connect, and experience something different. By bringing together multiple elements of travel into one cohesive destination, CROSSROADS Maldives creates a holiday that is both effortless and full of possibility.
